R&B musician Alicia Keys is currently dominating the singles charts with her collaboration with Jay-Z on "Empire State of Mind." But in the New Year, it will all be about Keys as she starts to piece together a headlining tour for the late winter and early spring months.
The native New Yorker has rolled out just 10 dates for her THE ELEMENT OF FREEDOM Tour as her schedule opens with a February 28th performance at Bell Centre in Montreal, QC. At present, the singer's routing is primarily focused in the Northeast, though the routing will eventually take her to the West Coast as she closes her jaunt on April 6th at Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.
Along the way, Keys will make plenty of stops across the U.S. and Canada. Engagements are scheduled for March 10th at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON; March 17th at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY; and March 22nd at Agganis Arena in Boston, MA, among other planned stops.Keys is getting most of her current airplay for her feature with Jay-Z, but her fourth studio album "The Element of Freedom" was just released nationally on December 15, 2009. While Brit sensation Susan Boyle's debut album is expected to snag the lead spot for a fourth straight week on next week's Billboard 200, Keys' album is projected to have sales upwards of 350,000 units for a strong opening week, according to published reports.
The singer-pianist's past three albums all topped the Billboard 200 upon their release and have earned multi-Platinum status from the RIAA. Keys' smash debut "Songs in A Minor" is still her personal best with more than six million copies sold so far, though her 2007 single "No One" leads her singles with triple-Platinum status.
Alicia Keys' THE ELEMENT OF FREEDOM Tour will be at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida on Saturday March 27, 2010.

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus bring their ZING ZANG ZOOM to South Florida!
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus presents ZING ZANG ZOOM, a thrill-filled, mind-blowing circus spectacular where fun for the entire family is no illusion.
Magical Zingmaster Alex and his assistant, the alluring Levitytia, lead audiences through a kaleidoscope of color and imagery revealing extraordinary worlds of fantasy, flight and phenomena that celebrates the uplifting spirit of the circus and wards off a cynical Mr. Gravity and his team of "heavies" who try to bring everyone down.
Be mesmerized when a four-ton elephant disappears before your eyes, and a gravity-inducing nemesis transforms across species into a ferocious tiger. Stand in awe as a dazzling trapeze artist performs a perilous, anatomically unimaginable one-arm speed-spin high atop the arena floor, and two formidable, female human cannonballs are blasted through the air in a daring, awe-inspiring display of bravery. Become electrified as the dangerous double wheel of steel, the gasp-inducing high wire and soaring gigantic swings defy both gravity and logic.
Fun-filled magic merges with traditional circus arts to create a world of infinite possibilities where apprentice illusionists levitate their parents with a wave of a wand, and audience spirits keep rising as the high flying circus is (literally) turned upside down. Perhaps the most magical of all, watch in amazement as an incomparable array of exotic animals including a herd of majestic Asian elephants, magnificent Bengal tigers and elegant Arabian and Friesian horses join forces with our human performers to create an experience that will surprise and delight 'children of all ages', rendering us speechless and reminding us that the magic of The Greatest Show On Earth lives forever in our hearts and imaginations.

Punk poet/provocateur Henry Rollins will launch the initial North American leg of his latest spoken word tour in March 2010 following a slate of international dates.
FREQUENT FLYER TOUR kicks off March 2, 2010 in Clearwater, FL, and currently runs through an April 9th date in Madison, WI, including a seven-night stretch of shows in Canada.
Rollins continues to flourish in several modes of media simultaneously, even after his Independent Film Channel series, "The Henry Rollins Show," was canceled in 2007. Rollins has appeared in several episodes of the critically acclaimed FX series "Sons of Anarchy," and continues to host his own show on Santa Monica, CA, radio station KCRW.
Last year Rollins released "Provoked," his 15th live spoken word album. The CD portion of the dual CD/DVD combo was recorded in San Francisco in 2007 and the Netherlands in 2008 during Rollins' PROVOKED TOUR, and the DVD includes the Comedy Central special "Live and Ripped From London."
More recently, Rollins joined singer Peaches to provide between-track spoken interludes on The Flaming Lips' forthcoming digital-only revamp of Pink Floyd's classic 1973 album "Dark Side of the Moon." The set, titled "The Flaming Lips and Stardeath and White Dwarfs With Henry Rollins and Peaches Doing The Dark Side of the Moon," will be available for one week only through iTunes, beginning Tuesday (12/22/09).
Rollins rose to prominence in the early '80s as the frontman for punk band Black Flag and went on to form the Rollins Band, which last toured in 2006. In addition to performing live, acting and authoring books, he is an outspoken human rights activist.

Brooks & Dunn Bring their farewell tour THE LAST RODEO Tour to South Florida!
Superstar duo Brooks & Dunn said they weren’t about to call it a day as a recording duo without one more chance to party with their fans, and Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn are ready to do it in style with the announcement of dates for their final tour, THE LAST RODEO. A celebration of their 20 great years together, the tour will launch on April 23, 2010, with 47 shows running through August 8, 2010.
Brian O’Connell, President, Nashville Touring, for Live Nation declared, “THE LAST RODEO Tour is going to be a ‘must see’ for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is the amazing energy that Kix and Ronnie create on stage. I look forward to seeing what they have up their sleeves on a nightly basis, and I am confident that they will leave everything they have on the stage one final time in each city. Anyone who has ever seen a Brooks & Dunn show knows that they will be coming full tilt! I do not look at this tour as an ending, rather a celebration of their career by two of the greatest Artists that Country Music has ever known.”
The tour follows the recent release of Brooks & Dunn’s career-spanning double-disc collection, #1s … and then some, which features 30 favorites in all, including an amazing 23 #1 hits. Among the songs on #1s … and then some is the smash single, “Cowgirls Don’t Cry,” which earlier this week earned the duo their 15th career GRAMMY Award nomination.
Brooks & Dunn's THE LAST RODEO Tour will be at the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa, Florida on Friday June 11, 2010 and at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida on Saturday June 12, 2010.

Semi Precious Weapons Replaces Kid Cudi on Lady GaGa's MONSTER BALL Tour!
Kid Cudi is no longer the opener for Lady Gaga's highly anticipated MONSTER BALL Tour. A statement released by the Cleveland-bred rapper cites scheduling conflicts as the reason for not completing the run.
"Kid Cudi has decided to take an early leave of absence from Lady Gaga's MONSTER BALL Tour in order to balance his schedule surrounding the recording of his next album and acting commitments," the statement read. "Cudi does not want to disappoint his fans and will move forward with his individual show dates in December and throughout the month of January."
However, sources confirmed to the media that Cudi has indeed been dismissed as a result of the December 12, 2009 incident where the rapper assaulted a fan mid-performance at a Vancouver concert stop. After an unidentified attendee launched a wallet onstage, Cudi, instead of opening the wallet and possibly identifying the wallet-hurler, threw it back into the crowd where concertgoer Michael Sharpe caught it. The wallet, however, did not belong to Sharpe, so Sharpe threw it back onstage. Unfortunately for Sharpe, an enraged Cudi then jumped off stage and decked Sharpe. Unfortunately for Cudi, footage of the punch made it to the Internet.
Cudi is the second rapper to be "kicked off" a Lady Gaga tour. In October 2009, Kanye West and Lady Gaga mutually canceled their winter FAME KILLS tour blaming poor ticket sales as the reason. It was widely believed the slow ticket sales resulted from the negative media behind West's infamous interruption of Taylor Swift's Best Female Video acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. The Cudi camp still plans on honoring their currently booked after-show club appearances.
Semi Precious Weapons will replace Cudi on Gaga's MONSTER BALL Tour.

Mariah Carey Brings her ANGELS ADVOCATE 2010 Tour to South Florida!
Multi Grammy Award winning R&B-pop vocalist Mariah Carey is ringing in the New Year with her first full-fledged concert tour in a little over three years. The 20-date ANGELS ADVOCATE Tour launches January 2, 2010 at Borgata Event Center in Atlantic City, NJ, and continues through February 27 at the Pearl Concert Theater in Las Vegas, NV.
After the January 2 opening, Carey's calendar currently has a two-week gap before she continues her tour with a January 15-16 stand at the MGM Grand Theatre in Mashantucket, CT. Other planned performances include January 30 at the Wang Theatre in Boston, MA; February 13 at Chicago Theatre in Chicago, IL; and February 23 at Gibson Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.
Carey is also bound north of the border for three engagements in Canada on February 4 at Bell Centre in Montreal, QC; February 6 at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, ON; and February 9 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON.
Opening act on the tour is new R&B group RydazNrtist, which recently signed with NCredible Entertainment, the label run by Carey’s husband, Nick Cannon.
The tour is promoting Carey's twelfth studio album "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel," which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 after its September 29 release. The debut was slightly lower than expected as Barbra Streisand grabbed the No. 1 position in a surprising sales week. Carey's two previous albums -- 2005's "The Emancipation of Mimi" and 2008's "E=MC2" -- both nabbed the top spot on the charts.
The last time Carey launched a full-fledged tour was with 2006's THE ADVENTURES OF MIMI Tour. However, the acclaimed singer did perform a mini-residency in Las Vegas earlier this season with a pair of two-night stands at the Pearl Concert Theater on September 11-12 and October 9-10, 2009.
Before launching the 2010 tour, Carey will kick off the New Year with a December 31 concert at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY. Her special guest for the New Year's Eve show will be Trey Songz.
Mariah Carey will be bringing her ANGELS ADVOCATE 2010 Tour to the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Thursday January 21, 2010.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Returns to South Florida!
Well remembered by local South Florida theater goers for its phenomenal run when it opened on February 26, 1991 as the premiere presentation of the newly built Broward Center for the Performing Arts… The US Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s monster hit musical THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA returns.
Based on the classic novel Le Fantome de l’Opera by Gaston Leroux, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA tells the story of a masked figure who lurks beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over all who inhabit it. He falls madly in love with an innocent young soprano, Christine, and devotes himself to creating a new star by nurturing her extraordinary talents and by employing all of the devious methods at his command. But you probably already knew that since over 80 million people in 124 cities in 25 countries have seen the Broadway musical adaptation of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.
The musical had its world premiere on October 9, 1986 at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London, winning every major British theatre award, including the Olivier and the Evening Standard Awards. The New York production opened on January 26, 1988, where it won seven 1988 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Worldwide, the show consistently plays to larger audiences and in longer engagements than any other musical in history.
On January 6, 2006, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA became the longest-running musical in Broadway history, surpassing CATS’ record-holding 18 year Broadway run (and 7,485 performances). The Oscar winning film adaptation was released in 2004 and starred Gerard Butler, Emmy Rossum, Patrick Wilson, Miranda Richardson and Minnie Driver.
The current tour stars Tim Martin Gleason as The Phantom, Sean MacLaughlin as Raoul and Trista Moldovan and Kelly Jeanne Grant alternate the role of Christine.

The Black Eyed Peas Bring their THE E.N.D. World Tour 2010 to South Florida!
After a banner year of chart-topping singles and a best-selling album, the Black Eyed Peas have announced their THE E.N.D. World Tour 2010 -- their first North American headline tour in about four years.
The 32-date venture begins February 4, 2010 with a performance at Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA, and concludes April 11 at General Motors Place in Vancouver, BC. The hip-hop group's calendar also has them bound for shows on February 24 at Madison Square Garden in New York City; March 13 at United Center in Chicago, IL; and March 29 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.
Besides the final date of the tour leg, the Peas have only one other performance booked north of the border. A March 6 concert has been slated for Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON.
Though the Peas have toured around the world in 2007 and even earlier this fall, the quartet hasn't staged a North American leg since the 2006's MONKEY BUSINESS Tour. That outing featured nearly 30 concerts, including about 10 scheduled stops across the provinces.
The Black Eyed Peas are touring behind their fifth studio album "The E.N.D.," released in June 2009. The album debuted atop the Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum in a little over three months, with sales now nearing the 1.4 million mark.
In addition to their success with sales, the group has also been breaking records on the Billboard charts. The first single "Boom Boom Pow" had the distinction of being the longest-running single in the No. 1 slot on the Hot 100 with a consecutive 12 weeks. When the first single was bumped out of the top position, it was replaced instantly by another Peas track, "I Gotta Feeling." The second single went on for another record-breaking run of 14 consecutive weeks atop the chart.

The Who to play Half-Time Show at Super Bowl XLIV!
Another Super Bowl, another performance from a classic rock icon. Sports Illustrated is reporting this year's halftime spectacular will feature The Who. That's right: Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and company will provide the musical fireworks when the Super Bowl XLIV game hits Miami on Sunday February 7, 2010.
Ever since the infamous Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake nipple fiasco in 2004, the NFL has gone with "veteran" acts and turned the reins over to one band or artist. Prior to that, there were often medleys and multiple acts, like No Doubt, Sting and Shania Twain in 2003 and the 2001 show that saw Aerosmith rocking 'Walk This Way' with Britney Spears and Timberlake. The Who certainly fit the newer mold, proving worthy successors to the recent run of Paul McCartney (2005), the Rolling Stones (2006), Prince (2007), Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (2008) and this year's performance by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
With the matchup still far from decided, one thing is for certain -- a stadium of 80,000 people rocking out to 'Won't Get Fooled Again' will sound great no matter what.
Super Bowl XLIV will be played at the LandShark Stadium in Miami, Florida on Sunday February 7, 2010.

Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots Game Moves from 8:20pm to 1pm!
The Week 13 Arizona Cardinals vs. Minnesota Vikings game on Sunday December 6, 2009 will be played at 8:20pm ET on NBC and the Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots game that day will move to 1pm ET on CBS, the NFL announced yesterday. The Miami Dolphins game will be shown in the South Florida market on WFOR-TV (Channel 4) in Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, WINK-TV (Channel 11) in Ft. Myers and WPEC-TV (Channel 12) in West Palm Beach.
"All of our feedback has shown that our fans prefer night games early in the season and afternoon games later in the year," said Miami Dolphins Chief Executive Officer Mike Dee. "We were able to get two home prime-time games in September and October this season that were well-received by our fans, and we are working with the league to secure early season prime time games again next year. While we would have liked the national exposure by playing the Patriots on Sunday night, we know our fans will enjoy attending the 1pm game in what should be ideal weather conditions."

Lee Ann Womack joins George Strait & Reba McEntire on their 2010 Tour!
George Strait has added Lee Ann Womack to the roster of performers for his upcoming headlining 2010 tour in support of his latest album, "Twang."
As posted before, the trek, which also features Reba McEntire, kicks off January 26, 2010 in Baltimore. Dates are currently set through an April 10 performance in Des Moines, IA, with stops in 18 cities along the way.
"We're talking classic country from the source," said Womack in a press statement. "I can't imagine a better tour to be on than George Strait and Reba McEntire -- and now I'm not imagining!" "I'm trying to figure out what to wear," she added, "cause you can't out-starch George and you sure can't out-spangle Reba!"
"Twang," Strait's 26th studio album, surfaced in August 2009 and took over the No. 1 spots on The Billboard 200 and the Top Country Albums chart. The new collection follows last year's platinum-selling "Troubadour," which earned a Grammy for Best Country Album earlier this year.
McEntire, meanwhile, will hit the road in support of "Keep On Loving You," her most recent studio effort, which also hit shelves in August 2009. The album marked her first solo set to debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200.
Last month (October 2009), Womack released a new single, "There Is a God," the lead-off to the singer's still-untitled and forthcoming seventh studio album, which is scheduled for release early next year. The track debuted at No. 60 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Michael Buble' brings his 2010 CRAZY LOVE Tour to South Florida!
Canadian singer-songwriter Michael Bublé is dominating the U.S. charts with his album "Crazy Love," and now he has plans to take that madness on the road.
The jazz vocalist's 20-date national jaunt kicks off with a March 10, 2010 concert in Orlando, FL, and ends a month later with an April 9, 2010 performance in Los Angeles, CA. The tour includes stops on March 14 in Atlanta, GA; March 20 in New York, NY; March 27 in Chicago, IL; and April 3 in Seattle, WA. Venue details have not yet been released for the coast-to-coast outing.
The spring concerts kick off Bublé's international CRAZY LOVE Tour, which will continue through 2011 according to published reports. Nearly 20 additional concerts have already been announced for May 2010 in the UK and Europe, and further North American performances will be revealed early in the New Year.
Bublé has enjoyed a growing hold in the music industry since his 2003 debut, both in terms of album and ticket sales. His early October release "Crazy Love" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with only three days of sales under its belt, kicking the latest KISS album down to a surprising No. 2 debut on the chart.
The jazz vocalist has also been the king of ticket sales on his past North American tours. Bublé's popularity as a live entertainer landed him in the Top 10 Concert Events on TicketNews' exclusive events rankings over the course of several weeks in late 2007 and early 2008, and again in September 2008.
These appearances in the rankings coincided with public onsales for a lengthy 2008 U.S. tour. The first leg of the North American run began in January 2008 and continued through the end of May 2008. Bublé's fall reappearance in TicketNews' event rankings followed the announcement of another dozen U.S. dates in October 2008.
Michael Buble will be bringing his CRAZY LOVE Tour on Friday March 12, 2010 to a 'still-to-be-announced' Fort Lauderdale, Florida venue.

Phish Returns to Miami for a 4-Night New Year's Eve Run!
Fresh off their triumphant three-night stand at Indio, California’s FESTIVAL 8, the reunited Phish have announced plans to play their first New Year’s Eve concert since 2003 when they take over Miami’s American Airlines Arena for a four-night residency December 28th thru the 31st.
The New Year’s Eve show will be a three-set extravaganza at the same Miami arena where Phish and their Phans last rung in the New Year together six years ago. Phish also celebrated the dawn of the new millennium in the Sunshine State with a festival in Big Cypress, Florida on December 30th and 31st, 1999.
While Phish had a stint in the '90s as the de facto Madison Square Garden house band for New Year's, they began to favor Southern Florida in the 2000s, beginning with the largest "new millennium" concert in the world on December 31, 1999. Phish famously played one long eight-hour set from midnight until dawn on New Year's Day in an open field at the Big Cypress Indian Reservation in the Everglades along Florida's Alligator Alley. The band has often claimed that night as being the pinnacle of their career.
Phish will be at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida... December 28, 29, 30 & 31, 2009.

R. Kelly Brings His LADIES MAKE SOME NOISE Tour to South Florida!
R&B recording artist R. Kelly's LADIES MAKE SOME NOISE Tour will be promoting his ninth solo album, "Untitled," released on October 13, 2009. The paradoxically titled record is a follow-up to May 2007's "Double Up," which dropped at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and earned the musician his fifth chart-topping album debut in the U.S.
"I've been in the biz 17 years, so everyone is used to me naming my records," the singer and producer told MTV News back in June 2009. "So I wanted to mix it up a little. I want whoever listens to the record to call it what they want, name it themselves based on what they feel listening to the music."
R. Kelly made his solo debut in 1993 with "12 Play," the first in a three-part album series that has since been followed by 2000's "TP-2.com" and 2005's "TP-3: Reloaded." Of his eight released efforts, all have held peak chart positions within the top two slots on the Billboard 200. R. Kelly's impressive streak continued with his two collaborations with Jay-Z, "Best of Both Worlds" and "Unfinished Business," which grabbed No. 2 and No. 1 peaks, respectively.
The performer's previous Double Up Tour in 2007-2008 hit arenas in more than 30 U.S. markets over a period of nine weeks. That trek, which featured support from the likes of Keyshia Cole and Ne-Yo, ran from November 2007 through early January 2008.
R. Kelly's LADIES MAKE SOME NOISE Tour will be at the James L. Knight Center in downtown Miami, Florida on Saturday November 28, 2009.

U2 Adds South Florida Date to 2nd North American Leg of their 360 Tour!
When it wraps up this week, the U2's 360 Tour will have played to over 3 million fans in just 44 cities. With record shattering sales including the largest attendance at the Rose Bowl as well as setting the all time record at New York's Giant Stadium where the audience surpassed that of the Pope - the largest rock and roll touring production ever has just confirmed the return to North America beginning June 6th 2010 at Anaheim's Angel Stadium. The tour is once again produced by Live Nation Global Touring and sponsored by BlackBerry®.
Having performed in a limited number of North American cities in 2009, U2's 360 Tour is set to touch down in a new set of stadiums next summer including stops in Anaheim; Denver; Oakland; Seattle; Edmonton; East Lansing; Miami; Philadelphia and Montreal. Due to overwhelming demand, U2's 360 Tour will also return for one night only in Toronto and Chicago before finishing the 2nd North American leg in New York at the New Meadowlands Stadium.
With sell-outs already reported for the 2010 European Tour including Denmark (2 shows sold out); Brussels (2 shows sold out); Helsinki (2 shows sold out) and Coimbra (2 shows sold out); and Paris where over 90,000 tickets were sold for a third show at that venue, U2's 360 Tour 2010 will offer fans who missed out a new opportunity to experience the U2 stadium spectacle.
U2's 360 Tour is one of the biggest touring spectacles ever mounted. According to their press release, the stage set rises some 150 feet from the ground, features a cylindrical video system of interlocking LED screens and a massive stage with rotating bridges. The intended effect is to provide a show with visual appeal to every fan in the stadium - thus living up to the “360″ tag. The tour is more about a unique staging configuration with excellent sight-lines.
U2's 360 Tour will be at the LandShark Stadium in Miami, Florida on Friday July 9, 2010.

Jewel Brings her Acoustic Tour to South Florida!
Folk-country musician Jewel has announced her full plans for a late-year acoustic tour of the United States. The 15-city trek begins October 27 at Lyric Opera House in Baltimore, MD, and wraps November 15 at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, TX.
The acoustic tour includes performances across the eastern seaboard and Midwest, but falls short of a full coast-to-coast span. The itinerary features stops on October 28 at Knight Theater in Charlotte, NC; November 3 at The Fillmore at Jackie Gleason Theatre in Miami Beach, FL; and November 12 at One World Theater in Austin, TX.
Jewel's latest round of tour dates comes just as the singer-songwriter has started work on a new album. The forthcoming project, still awaiting a name and release date, will be a follow-up to her first foray into country music, "Perfectly Clear," which was released in June 2008 and peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200.
The singer-songwriter supported her crossover to country with an early 2009 tour of the U.S. with a single show in Canada. That 14-date winter tour ran from January 23 in Windsor, ON, through February 8 in Bridgeport, CT.
In between her major recording projects, Jewel has stayed busy with smaller albums, as well. Earlier this year on May 5, the Alaskan-raised musician released her seventh studio album and first independent effort, "Lullaby."
"This isn't just a 'kids' album, it's really a mood album -- perfect to relax to at the end of a long day," Jewel said about the themed album. "It will soothe and lull children, but was also written and sung for adults to enjoy and unwind with."

STAR WARS in Concert Hits South Florida!
STAR WARS: in Concert, a unique multi-media event featuring music from all six of John Williams' epic STAR WARS scores is now on its North American tour.
STAR WARS: in Concert features music from Academy Award winning composer John Williams’ scores for all six films in George Lucas’ sci-fi saga.
Narrated live by Anthony Daniels, who played the golden droid C-3PO in all six films, the STAR WARS: in Concert features a full symphony orchestra and choir, accompanied by specially edited footage from the films displayed on a three-story-tall, high-definition LED super-screen – one of the largest ever put on tour. According to a news release, the live music and film elements are synchronized to maximize the STAR WARS experience.
“We’ve taken the key themes from the music and cut together all the images that fit with each theme, so you can really get a sense of how the music played into the images,” said STAR WARS creator George Lucas in the release. “The whole soundtrack is a testament to John Williams’ creativity and his extraordinary ability to enhance the emotional aspects of the films.”
STAR WARS: in Concert had its world premiere April 10-11 at the 02 Arena in London. The tour kicked off October 1, 2009 in Anaheim, Calif.
“Creating the music for the STAR WARS films has been an exciting and wonderful experience for me, and I therefore have derived particular pleasure in assembling a compendium of themes from all of the films to be presented in STAR WARS: in Concert,” said Williams in the release. “The editors at Lucasfilm have created original film montages to accompany each of the musical selections, and in the process, I believe that a singular and unique Star Wars experience has been born".
Accompanying the concert will be an exclusive exhibit of STAR WARS costumes, props, production artwork and specially created behind-the-scenes videos from the Lucasfilm Archives. Many of these pieces are leaving Skywalker Ranch for the first time. The exhibit features many classic fan favorite artifacts, as well as several new and never-before-seen items.
Here is a sampling:
- Full costumes for Jedi Masters Kit Fisto and Plo Koon will be on display.
- For the first time ever, pages from John Williams’ original hand-written sheet music for STAR WARS: Episode I – The Phantom Menace will be exhibited for the public.
- Also on display will be various never-before-seen props from the films, including blasters and helmets from Coruscant, Tatooine and other iconic STAR WARS locations.
STAR WARS: in Concert is produced by Another Planet Touring in association with Lucasfilm Ltd. Performances will be conducted by Dirk Brossé, and the production is directed and designed by Steve Cohen.
“This event has been crafted to present STAR WARS from many points of view; for the first time, the full dramatic sweep of Williams’ iconic scores can be heard performed live in one evening,” said Another Planet Touring Producer Spencer Churchill in the release. “The show is a new way of experiencing the epic scope of the saga.”

Garth Brooks Announces 5-Year Run in Las Vegas!
In his second of two press conferences today, Garth Brooks announced he’s coming out of retirement for a five-year residency at the Encore Theatre at Wynn Las Vegas.
The Grammy award-winning singer will perform four shows a weekend – one show Friday night, two on Saturday and one on Sunday – playing fifteen weekends a year.
Brooks broke the big news along with Steve Wynn, chairman and CEO of Wynn Resorts, during a press conference held in the Encore Theatre.
Brooks officially retired in 2001 to spend time with his wife, country singer Trisha Yearwood, and his three daughters, ages 17,15 and 13. The singer explained that the residency still allows him to spend time with his family – especially because Wynn threw in a private jet to get Brooks back to his home in Oklahoma as soon as possible.
“When Steve Wynn approached me about playing … he didn’t throw money at me … he listened to my story,” Brooks said. “He’s taken care of my children, he’s taken care of my wife. … My life is not going to change in the next five years except I’m going to get to play live music, which I’m excited about.”
The first weekend of shows is set for December 11-13 2009, followed by gigs January 1-3, 2010, January 22-24, 2010, February 12-14 and February 26-28, 2010. Brooks noted that new dates would be announced four times a year.
Brooks said he was excited to play the Encore Theatre after playing larger venues like arenas and stadiums that were built for sports rather than sound.
The show will feature just Brooks and his guitar, which the country singer says “takes me back to the early days.” Brooks will also be joined by some special guests every now and then, including wife, Trisha Yearwood.
Although Brooks officially retired from touring in 2001, in 2005 he began occasionally playing one-off events. He last performed January 18, 2009 at the Lincoln Memorial at Washington, D.C. for “We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration.” Before that he performed at Los Angeles’ Staples Center five times in one weekend last year.
During a Q&A at the press conference, Brooks said that he won’t be making any new music until his youngest daughter is on her way to college. He also noted that the Wynn residency will be his only shows on the books until that point.
He added that after all the girls graduate high school, the family will relocate from Oklahoma to New York so Yearwood can pursue a career on Broadway.
Brooks will be the first permanent headliner at the Encore Theatre since Danny Gans. The singer/entertainer died from a combination of prescription painkillers and a heart condition in May 2009.
Brooks has sold more albums in the US--upwards of 128 million--than any solo artist in history, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. In addition to his two Grammys, Brooks has also racked up 11 Country Music Association awards.

Taylor Swift brings her FEARLESS Tour with Kellie Pickler & Gloriana to South Florida!
Taylor Swift will hit 29 cities in the U.S. and Canada after she wraps up five shows in Australia, which will begin on February 4, 2010 in Brisbane. Her stateside tour begins in Tampa, Florida, on March 4th. Once again Swift will be hitting the road with opening acts Kellie Pickler and Gloriana.
The theatrical, three-act presentation will include a fairy-tale castle set, as well as Taylor on five different guitars and piano.
“I’m so excited to take the FEARLESS tour back out on the road again in 2010!” Swift said in a statement. “This year’s tour has been so much fun and even more unforgettable than I ever imagined. The fans have been so amazing, and I’m thrilled to play in new cities and see even more of my fans on the 2010 FEARLESS tour!”
“I always expected to have to do a lot of stressing out about selling tickets. And then I went on my first headlining tour, and everything just sold out,” she said. “I’ve never expected that kind of success. I’ve never just felt entitled to my shows selling out or things like this happening to me, but the fact that they’ve happened to me has been wonderful.”
Although we’re sure she’s welcoming a bit of a break from months of touring, she does say that seeing this leg of the tour wrap up this week is a bit sad. “It’s going to be so sad knowing that we’re not going to see each other for a while, everybody on the tour from the lighting to the crew, the dancers and the band, and everybody that have just become even more of my family in the last couple of months,” she said.
The Country/Pop crossover style of Taylor Swift has been embraced both in America and beyond, with her record-breaking success and popularity cemented by the success of her 2006 debut Taylor Swift and 2008’s 'Fearless'. By the age of 18 she became the first artist in US history to have two top 10 albums in the same year. In April 19-year old Taylor Swift embarked on her first major headline tour of North America, with tickets for the 52-date tour selling out instantly, with New York City’s Madison Square Garden reportedly selling out in under ONE minute and LA’s Staples Center in two minutes. Worldwide album sales have now surpassed 8 million and continue to grow rapidly.

"Persona," Latifah's seventh studio album and her long-awaited return to hip-hop, hit shelves in August 2009.
"My acting, singing and rapping identities all came together under one roof as well as my taste in different kinds of music," Latifah explained about "Persona" in a recent interview with the LA Times. "I'd say it's half rap and half singing. If I had to categorize it, it would be more like hip-hop urban alternative."
"Persona," which debuted at No. 25 on The Billboard 200, is Latifah's first collection of new material since 1998's "Order in the Court." In between the two, the performer released two albums of jazz standards: "2004's "The Dana Owens Album" and 2007's "Trav'lin' Light."
Latifah garnered rave reviews for her Oscar nominated performance as Matron "Mama" Morton in the 2002 film adaptation of the musical CHICAGO and her performance as DJ Motormouth Maybelle in the 2007 film adaptation of the musical version of HAIRSPRAY and also picked up her first Emmy nomination for her portrayal of a real-life AIDS activist in the HBO movie LIFE SUPPORT, which she co-produced with Oscar winner Jamie Foxx.

Bryan Adams Brings His Acoustic Tour to South Florida!
Bryan Adams returns to the road with a North American theater tour that runs through year's end.
The 17-date excursion got off to a slow start with one performance on September 4th in Edmonton, followed by a three-week hiatus. The Canadian singer/songwriter then climbed aboard the tour bus for a more consistent schedule of shows which began September 26th in Denver. The outing wraps up along the East Coast with a December 10th appearance in New Brunswick, NJ.
Adams most recently released "11," his aptly titled 11th studio set, which hit shelves exclusively at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club retailers last year. The musician followed the release with an "11 Days, 11 Cities" acoustic tour of Europe, as well a late-year solo-acoustic run throughout the US.
Earlier this summer, Adams was rewarded for his contributions to both music and philanthropic initiatives with a Canadian postage stamp bearing his image.
"I never thought about it," Adams said of this recognition in a recent interview with LiveDaily. "I got a message from a friend of mine saying, 'Congratulations getting on a stamp, but I'm not sure I'll be too keen about licking the back side of it.'"

Kanye West & Lady Gaga's FAME KILLS Tour Canceled!
Kanye West and Lady Gaga's co-headlining FAME KILLS Tour has been canceled, according to a press release from tour promoter Live Nation. No reason was given for the cancellation.
Rumors about the tour's possible cancellation have been swirling for days, largely related to the negative publicity stemming from West's interruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards last month. The tour, which West abruptly announced during a television appearance in the spring and was scheduled to launch on November 10 in Phoenix, was oddly not confirmed by either of the artists' reps until mid-September.
Just last week, Gaga revealed details about the tour during interviews with Las Vegas radio station KLUC and San Diego's Star 94.
She said the shows would feature an unusual stage that extended from one end of the arena floor to the other. "The stage is called a traverse," she said. "It's something that we designed together. Instead of being on just one end of the arena, the stage traverses the entire arena. It's not really in-the-round; it's more of a runway. ... [It extends] from one end to the other so the audience can see everywhere from 360, but it's like a rectangular runway shape".
"We're on each end of the stage, and I want to get to where Kanye is, which is 'the fame,' " she continued. "He wants to get where I am, which is home and humble beginnings. For the whole show, we are battling each other [for their positions]. It's been a really incredible creative experience".
"We did not do this tour for each other," she added. "We did this tour for everybody else. We wanted to do something that no one has ever seen. We wanted our fans to feel like we were doing something special and we wanted to merge two groups of fans — two different [groups of] music lovers into one room. He's going to play every Kanye West hit, which is a lot, one after the other. I'm going to play all my hit records which, knock on wood, I had a lot this year. And then I'm going to play all my new music and then do a ton of duets."
Asked about how she might be received by West's fans, she said she welcomes the potential to gain a whole new group of fans. "I make pop music and Kanye's fans love pop music because he has changed what hip-hop means. For me, the tour is more about just bringing people together and having a big dance party. The show is a celebration of creativity, art, fashion and choreography."
Gaga also opened up about West's dedication to his fans, and how working with him has broadened her creative horizons.
"He's really shown me a lot, as a friend — like creatively planning it with him," she said. "It's all about the fans for him. We were making the stage and he was like, 'We can't put these side panels here because if we [do], these people can't see and that's not fair. He was like, 'I'm not selling a ticket to a fan who can't see the show,' and he's right."
Gaga also revealed that she'll be launching her own headlining tour just weeks after FAME KILLS wraps. "When I come back from my world tour, I'm doing another world tour after this, which is going to be in March of next year."
And there you have it.

West has apologized three times for interrupting Swift's acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV VMAs and told Leno that he had been working nonstop since his mother's death two years ago.
While West went home empty-handed Sunday night — and, in fact, was asked to leave the venue after the incident -- Gaga provided one of the evening's highlights with her over-the-top, blood-drenched performance of "Paparazzi" and a win in the Best New Artist category.
