The Colts vs. Saints Head to Super Bowl XLIV in Miami!

The New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts will go head-to-head in this year's Superbowl, following losses by the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Jets this past Sunday January 24, 2010.

The New Orleans Saints are heading to their first Super Bowl after battering Brett Favre and beating the Minnesota Vikings 31-28 in overtime on unheralded Garrett Hartley's 40-yard field goal.

Favre threw away Minnesota's best chance to win, tossing an interception deep in New Orleans territory in the closing seconds of regulation. Then the Saints won the coin toss and soon it was over.

The team that had no home five years ago after Hurricane Katrina ravaged its city and the Superdome overcame a slew of mistakes in the biggest game the Big Easy has ever seen.

"This is for everybody in this city," said coach Sean Payton, the architect of the Saints' turnaround.
"This stadium used to have holes in it and used to be wet. It's not wet anymore. This is for the city of New Orleans."

Forget the paper bag masks and that long history of losing started in 1967. Moments after Hartley's kick, they were toasting their hometown winners on Bourbon Street. And in the Superdome, once a squalid refuge after Katrina, they boogied in the aisles as confetti covered the field.

"It's a moment I've been waiting for for a long time and obviously we're not done yet," said Drew Brees, Payton's hand-picked quarterback for the Saints' renaissance.

The Saints (15-3) will meet Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts (16-2) in the Super Bowl at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida.

It's the first time the top seeds in each conference made the big game since the 1993 season.

"Brett prepared us, but now we've got another challenge in Peyton," safety Darren Sharper said.

The biggest error was made by Favre. Flushed from the pocket, he seemed to have room to run to set up a field goal. Instead, the 40-year-old quarterback threw cross-field and was intercepted by Tracy Porter at the 22. That finished off Minnesota's chance for its first Super Bowl trip in 33 years - and opportunity to win it for the first time.

New Orleans won the coin toss, Brees guided it to the Minnesota 22 and Hartley, suspended at the start of the season for using a banned stimulant, split the uprights 4:45 into OT.

"Just helping my team get to Miami," Hartley said. "Just doing my part."

Indianapolis Colts vs. New Orleans Saints play the Sun Life Stadium (formerly the LandShark Stadium) in Miami, Florida on Sunday February 7, 2010.

CAVALIA gallops into South Florida!

Beginning on January 19, 2010, Miami began experiencing what 2.5 million people in Europe, Canada, and U.S. cities including Washington D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Boston, and most recently, Atlanta have been astounded by the extravagant multimedia equestrian celebration for the eyes and ears that is CAVALIA.

Guests who attend the show will “ooh” and “ahh” in amazement at the beauty of the more than sixty 4-legged artists in this eclectic cast. Crowds will cheer and rise in their seats during the incredible performances of some forty 2-legged artists, including acrobats, aerialists, riders, musicians and dancers.

From January 19 thru February 7, 2010, under the White Big Top at Bicentennial Park in Downtown Miami an exquisite, fastpaced, unforgettable 120-minute performance featuring the harmony between horse and man will find its home. CAVALIA marks the Adrienne Arsht Center’s very first off-site production, and underlines the Center’s commitment to provide world-class, diverse programming to the city of Miami, and the South Florida community.

This spectacular production was created by Cirque du Soleil co-founder, Normand Latourelle, and is often compared to Cirque for the way it revolutionizes equestrian and performing arts, much like Cirque revolutionized the circus.

CAVALIA will stop in Miami, as it makes the rounds to major cities on its NorthAmerican tour, after touring in Europe for two years. “I had the opportunity to bring Cirque du Soleil’s CirqueRéinventé to Miami in 1989,” says Normand Latourelle, CAVALIA founder and artistic director.
“I am extremely proud to introduce a new type of show to Miami on the 20th anniversary of this milestone. I hope that the people will embrace CAVALIA’s magic.”

“We are honored to co-present such a beautiful performance such as CAVALIA,” said M. John Richard, President and CEO of the Adrienne Arsht Center.
“South Florida will fall in love with this highly acclaimed, artistic demonstration of the unique bond between humans and horses.”

CAVALIA is not just a show for horse-lovers. Nor is it a show just for Cirque-fanatics. It is a lavish orchestration of multimedia, equestrian and performing arts designed to astound and entertain people of all ages and backgrounds. Under the world’s largest touring Big Top, which rises 100 feet above ground and spans more than 26,264 feet, sixty of the most magnificent creatures on the planet will express themselves in all their beauty, grace and strength on a 160-foot wide stage. While the horses gallop and cavort and, at times, run free completely unbridled, the show will incorporate unbelievable acrobatics, original live music and stunning special lighting effects to create a dreamlike setting, making it apparent to see why this show has become a global sensation.

Across North America and Europe, CAVALIA has enthralled audiences and been praised by critics for itscaptivating and unique experience. CNN’s Larry King raved, “The greatest show I have ever seen!” TheWashington Post exclaims, “Impressive, highly refined, indeed a wonder!” The New York Times describes the show as “a celebration of the unique emotional and physical bonds between humans and animals,” while O Magazine exclaimed that “The wildly beautiful stallions of CAVALIA leave audiences with their hearts galloping,” and the Los Angeles Times summed it up with “Blissful play, haunting score…striking aerial grace.” Madrid’s El Pais remarked “Like in a dream,” while Berlin’s Zeitung said “CAVALIA shows flawless artistry.” Lastly, Amsterdam’s De Telegraf proclaimed Cavalia as
“A fairytale for the entire family!”

CAVALIA features 12 different breeds of horses, including Arabians, Lusitanos, Spanish Pure Breed, Quarter Horses, and Paint horses from France, Canada, Spain and the United States. The featured 2-legged artists represent the nations of the United States, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Portugal andRussia.

The significance of the 4-legged performers can also be seen in the signature “C” of Cavalia’s logo, with a horse’s head depicted in the letter (the “l” in Cavalia is also representative in the shape of a horse’s leg).

CAVALIA will be at Bicentennial Park in downtown Miami, Florida thru February 7th, 2010.

Dolphin Stadium has a new name: Sun Life Stadium!

Dolphin Stadium will be renamed Sun Life Stadium as part of a deal that the Dolphins struck with a Canadian financial services firm, industry officials said Monday January 18, 2010.

The name change, which was expected, will happen before the January 31 Pro Bowl and February 7 Super Bowl.

The five-year deal reportedly averages out to $7.5 million annually.

Select Dolphins fans have been invited to attend the announcement and a musical performance on stadium grounds at 10am Wednesday January 20, 2010. Sun Life has been trying to increase its name recognition in the United States through an aggressive advertising campaign over the past few months.

This will mark the facility's seventh name since it opened in 1987. The other names, in order: Joe Robbie Stadium, Pro Player Park, Pro Player Stadium, Dolphins Stadium, Dolphin Stadium and LandShark Stadium.

The stadium has been called Dolphin Stadium for the past two weeks. LandShark Lager's eight-month naming rights deal expired after the January 5th FedEx Orange Bowl.

Jets-Colts & Saints-Vikings are the Matchups for NFL Championship Sunday!

The Saints' offense and Vikings' defense dominated in the divisional playoffs to set up a tantalizing matchup in the 2010 NFC Championship Game.

New Orleans' defense and Minnesota's offense didn't look too bad, either. Maybe these teams will give fans a more competitive affair than the first three games of this weekend, when the conferences' top clubs reminded everybody why they ruled all year before late-season skids.

Brett Favre is headed to New Orleans to try to return to the Super Bowl at age 40, 12 years after his last appearance. Two downtrodden fan bases will watch as the top-seeded Saints host the NFC title game for the first time, less than five years after Hurricane Katrina decimated New Orleans. Minnesota hasn't gone to the Super Bowl since 1977; New Orleans has never been.

The Vikings routed the Dallas Cowboys 34-3 on Sunday to set up the NFC championship showdown. Favre threw four touchdown passes, while the defense sacked Tony Romo six times and forced him into three turnovers.

"To win the way that we did doesn't mean anything going into next week," Favre said.

A day earlier, the Saints trounced the Arizona Cardinals 45-14. Drew Brees threw three touchdown passes and Reggie Bush scored on an 83-yard punt return and a spectacular 46-yard run.

The Jets upset the second-seeded Chargers 17-14 on Sunday to fill out the last spot in the NFL's final four. The Jets go back to Indianapolis, where the top-seeded Colts showed no signs of rust in beating Baltimore 20-3 on Saturday to reach the AFC title game.

The Jets handed the Colts their first loss of the season, 29-15, on December 27 in Indianapolis. Of course, the Colts had already clinched home-field advantage by then, and coach Jim Caldwell pulled Peyton Manning and other starters early in the second half before the Jets rallied.

"A matchup that probably nobody wanted, but too bad," Jets coach Rex Ryan said.
"Here we come!"

Rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez threw a go-ahead, 2-yard touchdown pass to tight end Dustin Keller three plays into the fourth quarter Sunday, then Shonn Greene gave the Jets breathing room with a 53-yard scoring run on their next possession.

The upstart Jets (11-7), who have won seven of their last eight, advanced to the AFC Championship Game for the first time since 1999.

The Chargers (13-4) not only saw their 11-game winning streak end, but endured yet another playoff meltdown after earning the AFC's No. 2 seed.

The Indianapolis Colts vs. New York Jets play the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana and the New Orleans Saints vs. Minnesota Vikings play the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on Sunday January 24, 2010.

Jimmy Buffett Brings His SUMMERZCOOL 2010 Tour to South Florida!

Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced that superstar Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band will bring their SUMMERZCOOL 2010 Tour to the Bank Atlantic Center for an exclusive South Florida show on Saturday, February 27, 2010.

Jimmy’s latest album, Buffet Hotel (one t), was released in December 2009. The title cut has a strong West African influence and was conceived during a trip to the “Festival In The Desert,” a music festival that takes place annually near Timbuktu, Mali. “It was one of the best musical experiences of my life,” said Jimmy. It was there that Jimmy ran across the Buffet Hotel, an old colonial era train station/hotel which was the venue for the music scene that exploded in Mali after its independence in 1960.

After Jimmy started writing for Buffet Hotel he decided to introduce three of the new songs into his set list. The three were “Summerzcool,” the quintessential beach song, which also became the tour name, “A Lot To Drink About,” a commentary on current events, and “Surfin’ In A Hurricane,” the first surf song Jimmy has ever written.

Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band will be at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida on Saturday February 27, 2010.
