Tyler Perry brings himself and MADEA'S BIG HAPPY FAMILY to South Florida!

Madea hasn’t gone on the road in nearly 5 years but according to the pistol toting grandma’s creator Tyler Perry himself, all of that is going to change! The 40-year-old filmmaker announced via his official website that Madea’s role will be reprised in a new stage play called MADEA'S BIG HAPPY FAMILY.

I wanted to tell you this before the tickets went on sale in most places….Madea is officially going on tour! That’s right, a Madea play, live on tour! I have managed to carve out about a year to go on the road and see you all again. I gotta tell you, I have missed you. There is nothing like a live performance and if you’ve never seen a Madea play, then you haven’t seen Madea at all. It is an experience, just ask someone who’s seen it... SMILE

It’s been 5 years since I’ve been on the road and the timing just happened to fall right into place. I needed to get away from Hollywood for a second…clear my head. There is no better way to do that than to come out and see your faces and be reminded of where this all started. The show is called MADEA’S BIG HAPPY FAMILY. I’m going to come through as many cities as I can. I know I can’t get to all of them but I’ll try and get as close as I can. Get your tickets early! I want you to have the opportunity to get good seats first before the rest of the country hears about the advertising, ok?

I can’t wait to see you! This play is going to be amazing!

I’ll see you soon.

Tyler Perry

The last play that featured Madea in a leading role was “Madea Goes to Jail,” which toured the country back in 2005. The play was later turned into a film and released to theaters in February 2009.

MADEA'S BIG HAPPY FAMILY starring Tyler Perry will be at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida on Friday and Saturday October 1 & 2, 2010.

Vampire Weekend makes its return to South Florida!

Vampire Weekend, which had one of the area’s top concerts during the summer of 2008 at The Fillmore Miami Beach, returns with another album and a whole lot more cachet under their belts.

The band's sophomore album, "Contra", achieved the previously unthinkable feat of scoring number one on the Billboard charts. It was welcome proof that there is, perhaps, a market for Ivy League rock if it's groovy enough.

The opening band is the awesome, Crossfade-approved Baltimore dream-pop duo Beach House, an act unlikely to make it down here on its own any time soon. The Very Best, an unclassifiable Radioclit spinoff act from Malawi/England/France/Sweden, also provides support.

Vampire Weekend will be at The Fillmore at the Jackie Gleason Theatre in Miami Beach, Florida on Wednesday October 13, 2010.

Joe Bonamassa to play South Florida!

Charismatic blues-rock star and singer-songwriter Joe Bonamassa comes to Hard Rock Live.

A child prodigy, Joe Bonamassa was finessing Stevie Ray Vaughan licks when he was seven and by the time he was ten, had caught B.B. King's ear. After first hearing him play, King said, "This kid's potential is unbelievable. He hasn't even begun to scratch the surface. He's one of a kind." By age 12, Bonamassa was opening shows for the blues icon and went on to tour with venerable acts including Buddy Guy, Foreigner, Robert Cray, Stephen Stills, Joe Cocker and Gregg Allman.

Bonamassa's recording career began in the early '90s with Bloodline, a rock-blues group also featuring Robby Krieger's son Waylon and Miles Davis' son Erin. In summer 2000, he guested for Roger McGuinn on Jethro Tull's tour, later releasing his debut solo album, "A New Day Yesterday". Upon returning from the road, he recorded "So, It's Like That" and released a document of the tour, A New Day Yesterday Live. The following year Bonamassa put out "Blues Deluxe", featuring nine cover versions of blues classics alongside three originals. "You & Me" appeared in 2006, followed by the more acoustic-tinged "Sloe Gin" that debuted at #1 on Billboard's Blues Chart in 2007. A year later, Bonamassa released the two-disc live album "Live from Nowhere in Particular", followed in 2009 by "The Ballad of John Henry".

The year 2009 was big for Bonamassa. He was awarded the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award at the U.K.'s prestigious Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards and was also named Best Blues Guitarist in Guitar Player Magazine's 2009 Readers' Choice Awards for the third consecutive year. He also played to a sold out crowd at London's Royal Albert Hall. During the show, Bonamassa's hero, Eric Clapton, joined him on stage for a joint-performance of Clapton's hit "Further On Up The Road." Shortly after, Bonamassa released a 2-DVD live set, Joe Bonamassa – Live From The Royal Albert Hall.

On top of touring, recording and overseeing the independent label J&R Adventures with his entrepreneurial partner and manager Roy Weisman, Bonamassa is a spokesperson for the Blues Foundation's respected Blues in the Schools program, volunteering his time during tours to speak with groups of high school students about the heritage of blues music. Recently, he was chosen by Channel One, the largest in-school news network, to host an ongoing segment called "Know Your Roots with Joe Bonamassa" in which he traces the musical roots of Channel One's weekly "Hear It Now" featured artist.

Bonamassa's latest release is "Black Rock" (2009) which brings world vibes to Bonamassa's virtuoso mix of '60s-era British blues-rock (à la Beck and Clapton) and roots-influenced Delta sounds. The album features a fresh take on the Willie Nelson-penned song, "Night Life," which appeared on B.B. King's 1967 album "Blues Is King", Jeff Beck's "Spanish Boots," a lively version of Leonard Cohen's poetic "Bird On A Wire," Otis Rush's "Three Times A Fool" and Bobby Parker's "Steal Your Heart Away," among others.

Recently, Guitar World dubbed Bonamassa "The Blues Rock Titan" and his song, "Lonesome Road Blues," is a part of Guitar Hero V's New Blues Masters Track Pack.

Joe Bonamassa will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Friday December 10, 2010.

British 80's Rockers Tears for Fears head to South Florida!

AEG Live and the Broward Center present Tears for Fears... one of the most successful bands in 1980's Rock.

In February of 1985, Tears For Fears released their 2nd album "Songs From the Big Chair" which became a huge hit in America, rocketing them to the top of the charts on the strength of the singles "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" and "Shout," both hitting number one, and the number three single "Head Over Heels," which were all supported by clever, stylish videos that received heavy MTV airplay.

This disc entered the UK album chart at number two and remained in its upper reaches for the next 12 months. They did away with the predominantly synth-pop feel of their first album, 1983's "The Hurting", expanding into a more sophisticated sound that would become the band's stylistic hallmark. The new Tears for Fears sound helped to propel Songs from the "Big Chair" into becoming one of the year's biggest global sellers, eventually being certified triple-platinum in the UK and quintuple-platinum in the U.S.

The duo's last studio album "Everybody Loves a Happy Ending" was released in 2004.

Tears for Fears will be at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Tuesday August 31, 2010.

"Weird Al" Yankovic brings his INTERNET LEAKS Summer Tour to South Florida!

Musical comic "Weird Al" Yankovic will spend part of the summer touring the nation behind his latest effort, last year's "Internet Leaks."

The award-winning performer will kick off the run today (June 16) in Rehoboth Beach, DE, followed by 12 shows spread across the country. The theater and fairground trek includes a June 29 gig at Milwaukee's Summerfest.

Yankovic released "Internet Leaks," a five-song EP, last summer. The set, which received a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album, includes "Whatever You Like," a parody of the hit T.I. song of the same name.

"The songs on 'Internet Leaks' will all show up again on my next full album release, whenever that is," Yankovic posted last summer at his blog. There is still no confirmed title or release date for the forthcoming set.

Last fall, Yankovic also unveiled "The Essential 'Weird Al' Yankovic," a two-disc, 38-track collection, which contains some of his biggest hits, including "Eat It," "White & Nerdy" and "Smells Like Nirvana," among others.

In January 2010, Yankovic revealed in a blog posting that he had signed a deal with Cartoon Network. "Without going into too much detail, the folks at Cartoon Network decided that they liked me and wanted me to provide some content for them: series, features, animation, live-action... they were open to anything," Yankovic explained. "The first thing I'm on track to do for them is, in fact, a live-action feature film." No further details about the project have been released.

"Weird Al" Yankovic will be at the Mizner Park Amphitheatre in Boca Raton, FL on Saturday July 24, 2010.

WWE Survivor Series Pay-Per-View Returns to South Florida!

PWInsider.com, ProWrestling.net, and several other wrestling websites are reporting that the WWE Survivor Series event will return for a 23rd year in 2010. The event will take place on Sunday, November 21st in Miami, Florida.

The Survivor Series made its pay-per view debut on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1987, and was held at the Richfield Coliseum in Richfield, Ohio.

During a WWE investors meeting in February, Vince McMahon announced that the event would be discontinued and re-branded due to a poor PPV buy rate in 2009 (225,000 buys) and an out-dated concept.

The WWE Survivor Series Pay-Per-View event will be at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida on Sunday November 21, 2010.

Margaret Cho brings her CHO DEPENDENT Tour 2010 to South Florida!

Drop Dead Diva comedian Margaret Cho is heading back out on the road this summer to promote her celebrity-packed recording ' Cho Dependent'. The new laugh-inducing CD compilation features musicians Ani DiFranco, Tegan and Sara, Patty Griffin, Andrew Bird, Fiona Apple and others. Scheduled release date is August 24, 2010.

“Over the years of being an intense music geek, I got to meet a lot of my heroes and I tricked them all into writing songs with me,” explains Cho. “Most comics want to be rock stars, and most rock stars want to be comics, so it was an easy exchange. You may be wondering – What could Cho possibly hope to accomplish by releasing 'Cho Dependent'? “I want to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and on Elvis Costello's Spectacle so I can talk all serious about my songwriting ‘process’ -- which is basically trying to figure out what rhymes with ‘dick.’”

Aerosmith finally returns to South Florida with their new COCKED, LOCKED, READY TO ROCK 2010 Tour!

For a while it looked as if last summer’s aborted 2009 tour was going to turn into Aerosmith’s swan song. Although last summer’s tour was cut short after Steven Tyler injured his shoulder while tumbling off the stage in Sturgis, SD, the band did manage to honor some fall commitments.

It was shortly after one of those fall dates when Tyler told a reporter he was going to spend some time concentrating on his own solo career. That led to speculation that Tyler was leaving the band – a situation that seemed to generate new rumors daily until earlier this year when the band announced the first few overseas dates of its 2010 tour.

Now after several South American dates, the band is ready to rock the house once more. Presented by Live Nation, the COCKED, LOCKED, READY TO ROCK 2010 North American tour begins in Oakland at Oracle Arena July 23rd, plays California’s Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles July 26th then heads down the coast to Irvine for a gig at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater July 29th.

Other stops include Las Vegas at MGM Grand Garden Arena July 31; Dallas at Superpages.com Amphitheatre August 3; Tampa at Ford Amphitheatre August 7, Fort Lauderdale at Bank Atlantic Center August 9, Wantagh, NY, at Nikon At Jones Beach Theatre August 12; Toronto at Air Canada Centre August 17 and Atlantic City at Boardwalk August 28. Last show on the schedule is in Uncasville, CT at the Mohegan Sun Arena September 4.

Previously announced shows include the band’s upcoming Europe run beginning at the Sweden Rock Festival in Solvesborg June 10 and a gig with J. Geils Band at Boston’s Fenway Park August 14.

“I thought it was time to get my Mojo back, by rockin’ South America and Europe with a little home run at Boston’s Fenway Park thrown in and then off to the rest of America to do what we do best,” Tyler said. “We’re gonna rock you into the middle of next week!”

Sammy Hagar & The Wabos will open on 11 of the 16 announced shows.

Aerosmith will be at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise/Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Monday August 9, 2010.

Disney's MARY POPPINS flies into South Florida!

Producers Cameron Mackintosh and Thomas Schumacher are pleased to announce the South Florida engagement of MARY POPPINS.

The entire original creative team has reunited to bring this magical story of the world's most famous nanny to audiences around North America. Since the tour's launch in Chicago in March 2009, MARY POPPINS has earned continuous critical praise and box-office success.

Original UK Tour star Caroline Sheen reprises her role as "Mary Poppins" while original London and Broadway star Gavin Lee assumes the role of "Bert."

MARY POPPINS, a co-production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh, opened on Broadway on November 16, 2006. Based on P.L. Travers' cherished stories and the classic 1964 Walt Disney film, MARY POPPINS the stage play features the Academy Award®-winning music and lyrics of Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman. The stage production has been created, in collaboration with Cameron Mackintosh, by Academy Award®-winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes, who has written the book, and the Olivier Award-winning team of George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, who have composed new songs and additional music and lyrics.

Consistently among the top-grossing shows on Broadway, MARY POPPINS continues in its 3rd smash year at the New Amsterdam Theatre and recently celebrated its 1000th performance – a milestone reached by only a rare few number of shows in Broadway history. The Broadway production has grossed over $168 million to date and been seen by over 2.1 million theatergoers.

Simultaneously, the show's popularity grows around the globe. Following a successful three year run (December 2004 - January 2008) at the Prince Edward Theatre on London's West End, a UK tour of MARY POPPINS commenced in summer 2008 and concluded its acclaimed run in Cardiff in April 2009. MARY POPPINS premieres two new major international productions in 2010: the Australian production at Her Majesty's Theatre in Melbourne, which begins on July 29th and an open-ended run at the Circus Theatre in Scheveningen, Holland, outside of Amsterdam which began on April 11th. MARY POPPINS will be produced in Holland by Stage Entertainment in association with Disney and Cameron Mackintosh.

The US Tour of Disney's MARY POPPINS will be playing at the Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from Wednesday June 9th thru Sunday June 27th, 2010.

Boston Celtics & Los Angeles Lakers go head-to-head at the 2010 NBA Playoffs!

Here we are at last. We've played 1,305 games over the course of seven months. We've sent 28 teams and 400 players on vacation. And wouldn't you know it? The two teams still standing are the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers, who will face off in the Finals for the 12th time.

The Celtics' 21st trip to the Finals is a bit of a surprise, while the Lakers 31st was expected all along. But both teams have proven along the way that, when it comes to veteran teams with championship experience, regular season struggles should be ignored.

Boston was 27-27 after Christmas, L.A. was just the eighth best team in the West after the All-Star break, and they both dealt with several injuries along the way. But once the postseason began, they each refocused, got healthy, and turned away all the other contenders.

For both, this series will be their biggest challenge to date. In two weeks, we certainly won't be looking back and saying that one of the previous rounds was "the real Finals." The Celtics have yet to face a team as big and talented as the Lakers. And the Lakers have yet to face a team as tough and experienced as the Celtics. Appropriately, these teams split the season series, with each winning by a single point on the other's floor.

This is the fourth time in the 64-year history of the Finals that the champions of the last two years are facing each other. The Lakers are looking for some revenge for 2008, while the Celtics want to take back what's theirs.

Though L.A. has made 10 more trips to the Finals, Boston has two more titles and they've won nine of the 11 previous head-to-head matchups. In many ways, this series is all about history, but when these two teams step on the floor beginning Thursday, history will have nothing to do with who comes out on top.

HERE IS THE SCHEDULE:

Game 1: Tuesday June 3, 2010 at the Staples Center (Los Angeles)
Game 2: Sunday June 6, 2010 at the Staples Center (Los Angeles)
Game 3: Tuesday June 8, 2010 at the TD Garden (Boston)
Game 4: Thursday June 10, 2010 at the TD Garden (Boston)
Game 5: Sunday June 13, 2010 at the TD Garden (Boston): if necessary
Game 6: Tuesday June 15, 2010 at the Staples Center (Los Angeles): if necessary
Game 7: Thursday June 17, 2010 at the Staples Center (Los Angeles): if necessary

Boston Celtics home games will be played at TD Garden in Boston, MA.Los Angeles Lakers home games will be played at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.

Donna Summer brings her 2010 Summer Tour to South Florida!

After a sellout show at Hard Rock Live in May 2009, Donna Summer returns to South Florida for an encore.

Singer/songwriter/pop culture icon Donna Summer rocketed to international superstardom in the mid-1970s when her groundbreaking merger of R&B, soul, pop, funk, rock, disco and avant-garde electronica catapulted underground dance music out of the clubs of Europe to the pinnacles of sales and radio charts around the world. Maintaining an unbroken string of hits throughout the '70s and '80s, most of which she wrote, Donna holds the record for most consecutive double albums to hit #1 on the Billboard charts (three) and first female to have four #1 singles in a 12- month period; three as a solo artist and one as a duo with Barbra Streisand.

Summer has earned five Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards and 11 gold albums. She is also the first female artist to have a #1 single and #1 album on the Billboard charts simultaneously ("Live & More;" "MacArthur Park" 1978) a feat she also repeated six months later ("Bad Girls" & "Hot Stuff" in 1979). It is estimated that Donna Summer has sold more than 130 million records worldwide.

In 1975, Moroder and Bellotte produced the international hit, "Love to Love You Baby," which rose to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and triggered Summer's triumphant return to the United States as a key figure of the then-emerging disco genre. "Love To Love You Baby" paved the way for such international hits as "MacArthur Park," "Bad Girls," "Hot Stuff," "Dim All The Lights," "On The Radio," and "Enough Is Enough," as well as the Grammy and Academy Award-winning theme song "Last Dance," from the film Thank God It's Friday, which remains a milestone in Summer's career.

In the years that followed, Summer collaborated with various writers and producers to release a steady stream of hits from State of Independence, including the feminist anthem "She Works Hard For The Money," one of the most-played songs of all-time, and "This Time I Know It's For Real."

In 1994, she released Endless Summer, a greatest hits retrospective containing a new song, "Melody of Love," which became Billboard's #1 Dance Record of the Year. She also released Christmas Spirit, a collection of original songs and holiday standards recorded with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra.

In 1997, when the new "Best Dance Recording" Category was created at the Grammy Awards, Donna Summer was the first winner with her fifth career Grammy award for "Carry On." In 1999, Sony/Epic Records released "VH1 Presents Donna Summer: Live & More – Encore!," an album and DVD of Summer's critically acclaimed VH1 broadcast taped at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom. The show premiered on VH1 as one of the network's highest rated shows to date and featured live performances of Summer's top hits.

In 2004, she became one of the first inductees, as both an artist and record (for 1977's "I Feel Love") into the Dance Music Hall of Fame in New York City.

In addition to her recording and performing career, Summer is an accomplished visual artist whose work has been shown at exhibitions worldwide including Steven Spielberg's "Starbright Foundation Tour of Japan" and The Whitney Museum as well as a prestigious engagement at Sotheby's in New York. In 2003, Random House published her autobiography, Ordinary Girl, co-authored with Marc Eliot. Also that year, she released The Journey, containing all of her original hits, as well as three new songs.

Donna Summer will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Wednesday August 18, 2010.
