Lewis is also poised to embark on an eagerly anticipated and first overseas USO tour for US troops stationed in the Persian Gulf. 2011 will see Lewis traveling alongside members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including such gridiron greats as Lynn Swann, Michael Haynes, and Paul Krause.
In other news, the It Takes A Community Foundation (ITAC) – founded by Lewis and his wife Vanessa – is happy to announce that the RH Conwell Elementary School in Worthington, Massachusetts has recently re-opened its doors, thanks in part to funds raised by the recent "Aaron Lewis & Friends" benefit concert. The proceeds from the event, which saw acoustic performances from such luminaries as Brad Arnold and Chris Henderson of 3 Doors Down, Shaun Morgan of Seether, LoPro and Brendan Kelley, have enabled the RH Conwell Elementary School to provide a seamless transition from a district run facility to a community school. To date, ITAC has raised $150,000 in support of the school.
"My family has been directly affected by school closures in our rural area due to state budget cuts," said Lewis. "We have seen firsthand the necessity for smaller communities to have a voice and to determine their own local needs and priorities. Our foundation strives to do just that: to build a collective of local community members and empower them to take charge of their own community's future."
Aaron Lewis will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Wednesday April 6, 2011.
