Sting will spend much of the summer on a world tour, performing his most renowned songs alongside the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. The British musician will begin the North American leg with a June 2nd performance in Vancouver. So far, his itinerary features only a handful of June dates, including a two-night stand June 17-18 at Ravinia Festival outside of Chicago.
According to a press release, more US concerts will be announced in the coming weeks, with shows expected in New York, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Philadelphia, Seattle and Portland, OR, among others. Sting will also tack on more Canadian stops, as well as a European leg, in the near future.
The 45-piece Royal Philaharmonic Concert Orchestra will reinvent a variety of hits by Sting and The Police, including "Roxanne," "Next to You," "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic," "Every Breath You Take" and "Desert Rose," among others.
"I'm delighted by this new opportunity to tour with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and reinterpret the songs I've been playing for many years," Sting said in a press release.
Sting will also be joined by a quartet consisting of guitarist Dominic Miller, multi-percussionist David Cossin, vocalist Jo Lawry and bassist Ira Coleman. The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will be conducted by Maestro Steven Mercurio.
Last year, Sting unveiled "If On a Winter's Night...," which peaked at No. 6 on The Billboard 200 and has since been certified gold.
Sting with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will be at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida on Friday July 2, 2010.
