John Mellencamp brings his NO BETTER THAN THIS Tour to South Florida!

John Mellencamp’s NO BETTER THAN THIS Tour is designed as a uniquely formatted “evening with,” and brings Mellencamp’s music to theater-sized venues, a rare opportunity to experience one of America’s most iconic songwriters and performers in an intimate setting, highlighting all phases of his artistry.

The new NO BETTER THAN THIS Tour dates commenced in early February 2011 in New England and continued on to two stops in Canada before heading south to New York, Washington, Philadelphia and into the Carolinas and Florida.

The tour will feature classic Mellencamp material associated with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee over the course of his 35 year long career as well as the new music from “No Better Than This”. The album, released by Rounder Records, held the top spot on the Americana Music Chart for five straight weeks and was produced by T Bone Burnett. It was recorded in three historic locations in the American South: Savannah’s First African Baptist Church, Sun Studio in Memphis and Room 414 of San Antonio’s Gunter Hotel where Robert Johnson recorded in 1936. The sessions were documented on a 55-year-old mono tape recorder using just one vintage microphone at each location. Rolling Stone’s review of the album noted, “Mellencamp has never sounded looser or easier on a record,” suggesting the artist was “channeling spirits and stepping into period styles. They fit him perfectly." The Americana Music Association honored Mellencamp last month with its Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting, presented by Rosanne Cash.

As a reflection of the diversity of styles and material that have been a hallmark of Mellencamp’s eclectic career, the concerts are formatted into three segments. These showcase John Mellencamp in an acoustic context, fronting a small combo recalling blues/country and rockabilly roots and with his full rock band. Musicians backing Mellencamp include Michael Wanchic (guitar), Andy York (guitar), Miriam Sturm (violin), John Gunnell (electric and upright bass), Dane Clark (drums) and Troye Kinnett (accordion/keyboards).

Of special note is the fact that the tour’s “opening act,” is a documentary film by Kurt Markus entitled “It’s About You”. Shot on Super8 film over the course of last year’s Bob Dylan-John Mellencamp-Willie Nelson tour of minor league baseball stadiums, it chronicles the creation of “No Better Than This” while serving as a cinematic ‘think piece’ on the state of the country at the end of the first decade of the 21st Century. Markus, whose still work has put him in the front ranks of contemporary American photographers, has been cited for his extraordinary vision of his work documenting the American West and is the recipient of Life Magazine’s Alfred Eisenstaedt Photography Award.

Mellencamp noted, “I’m very excited to have the opportunity at this time in my life to go on tour and present these songs in this manner.”

John Mellencamp will be at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Thursday March 3, 2011.

The Gipsy Kings bring their 2011 Tour to South Florida!

The gypsy flamenco band the Gipsy Kings are touring North America and the band’s added a unique song to its repertoire.

The group is from the South of France… and they’re of Spanish Romani heritage. Their style of music is rumba flamenco, often mixed in with popular beats. They’ve had a busy career and they are loved in the United States where they tour about twice a year. The band first burst onto the world stage in the late 1980s with hits like “Bamboleo”.

They haven’t released a new studio album in over three years so it’s a little puzzling that their latest work is heard in an animation movie: Disney-Pixar’s’ TOY STORY 3. Since Buzz Lightyear is switched to Spanish in this film the theme song is too. “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” becomes “Hay un Amigo en Mi,” a full-blown rumba-flamenco tune, courtesy of the Gipsy Kings.

Tom MacDougall is TOY STORY 3’s music supervisor says, for the scene in which Buzz Lightyear starts to dance, they needed a band with an iconic sound that would identify flamenco, and Spain, immediately in American moviegoers’ minds. And no band could do that better than the Gipsy Kings.

Tom MacDougall: “For that moment we needed people to know immediately what’s happening you hear those first chords on the guitar and even when I see the film now with audiences they get right away so for that minute or so of the footage the song identifies what’s going to happen and you just enjoy the ride.”

Gipsy Kings’ band member Andre Reyes says they were immensely pleased to get the song request from Disney-Pixar. He says they worked to make it their own -- “we gave it a Gipsy Kings makeover, with the style of singing of Nicolas, the lead singer, and the traditional Flamenco rhythm.” He adds that the song may give the band a special connection to American audiences during this tour. And if they get requests, Reyes says they’ll definitely play their version of the TOY STORY 3 theme song.

The Gipsy Kings will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on February 28, 2011.

Frank Sinatra Jr. brings his SINATRA SINGS SINATRA Tour to South Florida!

Frank Sinatra, Jr. was born in New Jersey, raised in California, and educated in the showrooms of Las Vegas and on bandstands all over the world. While studying music at the University of Southern California, Frank Jr. planned a career as a pianist and conductor. He made his professional show business debut as a singer with the Elliott Brothers Band and in 1963 he toured with the Tommy Dorsey Band.

In 1965, Frank Jr.'s first album, “Young Love for Sale”, a collection of showroom standards, was released. The next year, he hosted an hour-long TV special, “Frank Sinatra, Jr. with Family and Friends”, on which he was joined by his sister Nancy and father, as well as stars like Jack Benny and Sammy Davis Jr. In the 1970s, he released his next two albums: “Spice” (featuring Frank Jr.'s writing talents) and “His Way”, an assortment of hand-picked contemporary songs.

Throughout the 1980s, Sinatra's live act concentrated on big-band songs. Beginning in 1988, at his father's request, he served as conductor and musical director for his father's final years of performing. Their duet on "My Kind of Town" was considered to be the highlight of the elder Sinatra's best-selling “Duets II” set. In 1996, Frank Jr. released his first full-length album in nearly 20 years, “As I Remember It”, which tells the story of the Sinatra Legend.

After his father's death in 1998, audiences honored Frank Jr. and his 36-piece orchestra with numerous standing ovations during his three sold-out shows at the Sands Hotel Casino. Frank commemorated "Ol' Blue Eyes" in a unique setting created by special lighting, an ethereal voice-over and the presence of featured guest Bill Miller, Frank Sr.'s longtime musical director and accompanist for close to fifty years. Bill Miller was a permanent member of Frank Jr.'s orchestra until his death in 2006.

Frank Sinatra, Jr. has appeared on television numerous times, including appearances on HBO's “The Sopranos”, FOX's “Family Guy” and “Son of the Beach”, and “The Defenders”. He also appeared in the Harrison Ford film “Hollywood Homicide”. Frank Sinatra, Jr.'s latest album, “That Face”, was released in 2006.

Frank Sinatra Jr. will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Thursday March 3, 2011.

Rubén Blades and Gilberto Santa Rosa bring their 2011 UNA SOLA SALSA Tour to South Florida!

Ruben Blades and Gilberto Santa Rosa, "El Poeta y el Caballero de la Salsa" respectively, have announced that they will go on tour together in the United States at the beginning of 2011, in a tour aptly titled UNA SOLA SALSA, in which they will sing their greatest hits. The tour, produced by Ariel Rivas Entertainment and Juan Toro for The Relentless Agency, will take these two salsa superstars all over North America to cities like New York, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Juan.

According to Blades, it's an "unusual opportunity to share a stage with a musician who is beloved by everyone and is also a dear, personal friend (Gilberto Santa Rosa)." Both artists agree that this is an
"opportunity to continue promoting the concept of Salsa music and ensuring that it won't be forgotten, pushed aside or replaced by other genres."

Last year the singers performed a duet together titled "Me Cambiaron las Preguntas", which appears on Santa Rosa's new album "Irrepetible" (Unrepeatable). The song marks a highlight for Gilberto in his music career, since it's the first song he records which focuses mainly on a social issue. According to Gilberto, it's
"unrepeatable because when you try to repeat a formula, it never turns out like you expected it to."

Blades stated that the tour will be an "opportunity to thank the fans that never abandoned the genre and for their support and a reason to physically reunite them in a celebration of this type of music." He added that it would be a great time to "present the style to a new generation who hasn't been exposed to Salsa music and who will surely become great supporters of this Caribbean expression."

Ruben Blades and Gilberto Santa Rosa will be at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida on Saturday June 18, 2011.

Usher brings his OMG TOUR along with Akon back to South Florida!

By overwhelming popular demand, multi-platinum recording artist Usher has added a second North American leg to the worldwide OMG TOUR that has been selling-out arenas across the globe. Usher will showcase his signature brand of hit-filled R&B-infused pop, and will share the stage with special guest: superstar Akon.

On Super Bowl Sunday, 160 million viewers worldwide watched as Usher descended onto the stage as part of an explosive halftime show. The surprise performance coincided with the announcement that the OMG TOUR is returning to the United States. The Chicago Tribune raved that
"turning the arena into his own house of Usher, the singer celebrated his R&B dominance of the last 15 years."

Grammy nominated international pop star Akon first rose to prominence in 2004 and has since sold over 10 million albums worldwide. He is the first solo artist to hold both the number one and two spots simutaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 charts -- an achievement he attained twice. In 2007 alone, Akon won the American Music Award for Favorite Soul R&B Male Artist, three World Music Awards, and the Billboard Music Award for Artist of the Year.

The OMG TOUR comes hot on the heels of Usher's pop chart smash, "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love", from his recent No. 1 album "Versus". Usher was showcased with a performance at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday February 13, 2011.

Usher (with Special Guest: Akon) will be at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise/Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Wednesday April 27, 2011.

Rascal Flatts bring their NOTHING LIKE THIS Tour to South Florida!

Rascal Flatts' Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney had so much fun on the first leg of their NOTHING LIKE THIS Tour that they are extending it into 2011. The tour kicked-off again on January 14th in Sioux Falls, SD., and continues to cross the country thru the summer.

The group's new album of the same name hit stores on November 16, 2010. Considering that their last five albums have all reached No.1, and enjoyed platinum success, it would be easy for the Flatts guys to sit back and continue using the formula that has worked for them in the past, but that's not how they operate.

"We cut some things that we wouldn't have cut in the past, and we're really excited about doing something a little bit different this time," Jay says. "We've been with [producer] Dann Huff (Keith Urban, Faith Hill, Steel Magnolia) now for four records, and he really pulls something new out of us every time we get in the studio. This time, we went out to Santa Barbara, CA for about a week and tracked and did a little recording out there, just to mix it up a little bit. We just focused on the task at hand, and we got to collaborate with each other and talk about the direction of this record and really focus on it a lot more than we had in the past years."

Rascal Flatts will be at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida on Saturday August 20, 2011.

Bruno Mars & Janelle Monae bring their HOOLIGANS IN WONDALAND Tour to South Florida!

And this spring the duo are teaming up and hitting the road, bringing their flair to a stage near you.

The trek, dubbed HOOLIGANS IN WONDALAND -- after Bruno’s new album, “Doo-Wops & Hooligans”, and Monae’s Atlanta crew, the Wondaland Arts Society, and a song from her superb album,”The ArchAndroid”… will kick off May 4 in New York City and hit all four corners of the U.S., from Seattle to Florida, Boston to Los Angeles, and in between before closing out in Phoenix on June 15.

Like-minded artists Plan B and Mayer Hawthorne & the Country will come along on select dates to open the show.

Jason Aldean brings his 2011 MY KINDA PARTY Tour to South Florida!

As Jason Aldean straps on his boots to head out on his 2011 MY KINDA PARTY Tour, he sends one warning: concert patrons should expect that this tour will be something they’ve never seen before. The tour kicked-off February 3rd in his hometown of Macon, GA.

After a big year in 2010, the ‘My Kinda Party’ singer realizes he’s got to step it up in 2011, and this tour will be a way of demonstrating what he’s capable of. So fellow country musicians, watch out, because this star will continue to rise.

“I’m anxious. I felt like 2010 was really our breakout year,” Aldean admits. “We had a lot of great things happen to us last year, but 2011′s a different year, and I’ve got a new album to go out and promote with new singles. We’re able to go out and make our show look and sound the way we’ve wanted it to for a long time now.”

Aldean explains that the way they’ve wanted it to look means the tour sets are larger than life, with special effects and high energy. “I feel like if I was paying money to go see a show, we’re giving them the kind of show that I feel like I would want to see,” he adds.

With the JaneDear Girls and Eric Church along for the ride, the MY KINDA PARTY Tour won’t disappoint. “It won’t be the kind of show that lags anywhere. I think it’s going to be good all the way around,” Aldean says. “We feel like we’re able to go out and compete with other acts that are out headlining and make our show look as good as theirs, if not better. When people come out and buy a ticket, you want to make them feel like they got their money’s worth. We want to make sure that we give them that.”

Aldean, who just marked five million record sales to his career accomplishments, has had a direct hand in the tour planning so the tour is 100% authentic. “I want to look back on this tour and feel like it was a success and feel like we accomplished the things that we set out to do,” he says of the 18 shows ahead. “The album’s doing well for us, so that’s one thing we really don’t have to worry about right now. We can focus on the tour.”

Jason Aldean will be at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida on Thursday June 16, 2011.

WrestleMania XXVIII comes to the Sun Life Stadium in 2012!

WrestleMania XXVIII will be held at Sun Life Stadium on April 1st, 2012 as the WWE recognized the value not only of the venue but of being able to showcase everything it’s about in one of the most diverse cities in America.

“Nobody does big events like Miami and no venue is more blessed to have these kinds of events,” said Dolphins CEO Mike Dee, who was joined by Hall-of-Fame quarterback Dan Marino and limited partner and Grammy Award winner Emilio Estefan. “It’s just great that we’re in a position to work with the community to bring WrestleMania here. It’s going to be a tremendous entertainment value for local fans but it’s going to bring a lot of people from all over the country and all over the world. It’s going to have a tremendous economic impact on the region.”

Though there have been other former NFL players to crossover into the ring, nobody from the Miami Dolphins has attempted to try the physically demanding sport since Wahoo McDaniel in the 1970s. Marino made it clear that he will not be the next.

“No, I never thought about it,” Marino said. “And I will never think about it. But it’s great for the city of Miami and that’s why I’m here. The Dolphins wanted me to come and show my support for this and to have this event at Sun Life Stadium, they were able to pull something special of because this is truly a big event. It’s very similar to the Super Bowl because it’s one big event”

In addition to the actual main event, which will be televised via pay-per-view to more than 100 countries, there will be a weeklong slate of events similar to Super Bowl week. Among them will be the 2012 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, WrestleMania Axxess, the finals of the WrestleMania Reading Challenge and a Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament.

Miami also has hosted Super Bowls before, but McMahon has wanted to bring WrestleMania to Miami for quite some time. “We should’ve been here before, actually,” McMahon said. “So many WWE fans have asked us through the years, ‘Why not Miami?’ and sometimes it takes me a while to make the right decision, and this is definitely the right decision. It’s going to be an extraordinary event. There are so many things that are appealing here and you want to go where you’re welcomed. We’re welcomed here and there’s a warm, personal feeling that you get from those who enjoy our sport and enjoy our form of entertainment.”

The Miz is the reigning WWE men’s champion and Diva Eve is the women’s champion. The two of them were very excited to see WrestleMania come to Miami, as was The Big Show, who is a Miami resident. Marino joked that he’d like to be The Big Show’s bodyguard.

WrestleMania XXVIII will be at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida on Sunday April 1, 2012.

Staind’s Aaron Lewis brings his SOLO & ACOUSTIC Tour to South Florida!

Aaron Lewis, the acclaimed frontman for Atlantic recording group Staind, has announced details of his upcoming SOLO & ACOUSTIC Tour.

Lewis is also poised to embark on an eagerly anticipated and first overseas USO tour for US troops stationed in the Persian Gulf. 2011 will see Lewis traveling alongside members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including such gridiron greats as Lynn Swann, Michael Haynes, and Paul Krause.

In other news, the It Takes A Community Foundation (ITAC) – founded by Lewis and his wife Vanessa – is happy to announce that the RH Conwell Elementary School in Worthington, Massachusetts has recently re-opened its doors, thanks in part to funds raised by the recent "Aaron Lewis & Friends" benefit concert. The proceeds from the event, which saw acoustic performances from such luminaries as Brad Arnold and Chris Henderson of 3 Doors Down, Shaun Morgan of Seether, LoPro and Brendan Kelley, have enabled the RH Conwell Elementary School to provide a seamless transition from a district run facility to a community school. To date, ITAC has raised $150,000 in support of the school.

"My family has been directly affected by school closures in our rural area due to state budget cuts," said Lewis. "We have seen firsthand the necessity for smaller communities to have a voice and to determine their own local needs and priorities. Our foundation strives to do just that: to build a collective of local community members and empower them to take charge of their own community's future."

Aaron Lewis will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Wednesday April 6, 2011.

Taylor Swift brings her SPEAK NOW WORLD TOUR 2011 to South Florida!

The SPEAK NOW WORLD TOUR 2011 is one of the most-anticipated musical experiences of the year, as Taylor's live show is renowned for her incredibly high-energy theatrical presentation of graphics, sets and visual elements, all designed by Taylor herself. During each show, Taylor performs hit after hit from her three albums, including the chart-topping "Love Story," "You Belong With Me," "Fifteen," and "Mine." During the course of the show, Taylor plays several different guitars and has multiple wardrobe changes.

Taylor's 15-month, 107-date FEARLESS 2009 / 2010 Tour sold out arenas and stadiums in 88 cities in five countries spanning four continents, and Taylor is currently slated to play 85 shows in 18 countries on the SPEAK NOW WORLD TOUR 2011.

"Swift's fans don't just believe in her savvy songwriting and gracious, magnetic stage presence. They trust her as a peer," raved the Los Angeles Times. "And if the unerring pleasures of her set - and the crowd's Beatles-sized reactions - were any indication, they'll be trusting her for a long time."

"I'm so excited to go back out on tour again in 2011!" says Taylor. "The FEARLESS Tour was so much fun and even more unforgettable than I ever imagined, and I can't wait to get back out and play my new music from Speak Now! The fans have been so amazing, and I'm thrilled to play in new cities around the world and meet even more of my fans in 2011!"
Taylor Swift is a four-time Grammy winner, the top-selling digital artist in music history, has had singles top both the Country and Pop radio charts, and had the #1 best-selling album in any genre of music in 2009. "Love Story" was the sixth-highest selling digital single worldwide last year. This year, at the age of 20, she became the youngest artist in history to win the music industry's highest honor, the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

Taylor, who writes all of her own songs, has career record sales now in excess of 13 million albums and 25 million song downloads, and just this month set a new Billboard record for the most Top 10 Hot 100 debuts in the chart's history. She also holds the Billboard all-genre records for most first-week downloads by a female artist, for the longest charting album of this century and for most Top 20 debuts in a calendar year.

Taylor Swift will be at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise/Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Thursday and Friday June 2 & 3, 2011.

Toby Keith brings his BULLETS IN THE GUN 2011 Tour to South Florida!

Country music crooner Toby Keith has announced several dates for his BULLETS IN THE GUN 2011 Tour, hitting up some of the nation's most popular festivals like the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, the Country Thunder, Summerfest, Jamboree, Frontier Days and the Big Valley Jamboree. Keith has made a big splash in the industry and just recently released his 14th studio album titled “Bullets in the Gun”. The record held onto the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

The singer was recently quoted talking about his new work. He said, "We write the song first. You never know when you write a song if you're going to record." He also noted that as a musician he wants to be seen "drinkin' and raisin' hell and having fun and laughing at me and everybody around me." The video for his Top 20 hit "Trailerhood" is an example of just how much joy Keith draws from his career as a musician. He also mentioned, "… the video we shot in a trailer park outside of Nashville”.

Keith has released thirteen studio albums, two Christmas albums, and multiple compilation albums. He has also charted more than forty singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including nineteen Number One hits and sixteen additional Top Ten hits. His longest-lasting Number One hits are "Beer for My Horses" and "As Good as I Once Was” -- at six weeks each.

Toby Keith released his self-titled debut album in 1993 and almost immediately became a sensation on the music scene with the hit single "Should've Been a Cowboy." Several other singles followed immediately in its path, as did a number of studio albums, including "Boomtown", "Dream Walkin'" and "How Do You Like Me Now?!" In fact, the latter album won the honor for Album of the Year at the Academy of Country Music.

One of Keith's most popular and also most controversial recordings arrived in the summer of 2002. "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue" was made in response to the September 11 terrorist attacks and really hit a note with his fiercely patriotic listeners, while also alienating others who thought it was rough and distasteful. Nevertheless it continued to bring Keith to the forefront and he released a steady string of hit CDs over a short period of time including “That Don't Make Me a Bad Buy” in 2008, and then “American Ride” in 2009.

“Bullets in the Gun” hit the shelves in 2010 and once again show's Keith's determined aggressiveness. Just take a listen to ballads like the title track, "Somewhere Else," "Think About You All of the Time" and "Drive It on Home." Fans of Mr. Keith will no doubt be pleased with this latest release and you will want to see him perform live on stage at one of his upcoming gigs.

Toby Keith will be at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida on Saturday October 15, 2011.

Aaron Rodgers leads Green Bay Packers to Super Bowl XLV win, 31-25!

The National Anthem may have been sung wrong. The first half wasn’t the most exciting half of football. The half time show was a bit of a disappointment. But despite all that, more people watched Super Bowl XLV than any other program in TV history.

Green Bay’s victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl has surpassed last year’s record-setting game in the Nielsen Co.’s preliminary ratings measurement of big cities. The 2010 game between New Orleans and Indianapolis established itself as the most-watched program in U.S. television history, with 106.5 million viewers.

Aaron Rodgers was the clear and obvious Super Bowl MVP after leading the Green Bay Packers to the team's first Super Bowl win since 1997. Rodgers garnered 17.5 votes out of a possible 20 for the award, with Jordy Nelson receiving two and Clay Matthews receiving 0.5. It was the cherry on top and the realization of a dream for Rodgers, who was unflappable in his first Super Bowl.

"It's a dream come true," Rodgers said after the game. "It's what I dreamt about as a little kid watching Joe Montana and Steve Young, and we just won the Super Bowl."

Rodgers was nearly-perfect throughout the game, overcoming drops by his receivers and an offense that looked to be stuck at neutral at times. Yet every time it looked like the Steelers were ready to break through, Rodgers was there to stem the tide.

Celebrating like he has all season, Rodgers strapped the belt on one more time on-stage at Cowboys Stadium, but this time he could truly say it was the championship belt while holding the Lombardi Trophy.

Now it’s off to Super Bowl XLVI at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana on Sunday February 5, 2012.
