Gilberto Santa Rosa brings his SANTA ROSA AL 100% World Tour to South Florida!

Gilberto Santa Rosa, Tropical Music "Artist of the Decade" by Billboard, returns in 2010 with a new world tour: SANTA ROSA AL 100%, and under new management with Eventus.

After selling out venues such as the American Airlines Arena in Miami, the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, and Madison Square Garden in New York, Santa Rosa takes on more intimate venues to get up close and personal with his fans.

SANTA ROSA AL 100% World Tour opened May 6th in Chicago and will progress throughout 2010, including a string of intimate performances at House of Blues venues in Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Diego and Orlando, making him the first Salsa act to tour using multiple House of Blues venues. The tour will also include several performances abroad in Latin America (Colombia, Venezuela, Perú, Panamá and Ecuador), wrapping up the GRAMMY® winner's overseas leg of the tour in Europe (Spain, Italy, and France).

Gilberto Santa Rosa, known in the music industry as "El Caballero de la Salsa", is a Puerto Rican born Tropical music aficionado. His perfection of a unique style of soneo, improvisation of Salsa ballads, launched Santa Rosa as a pioneer, making him successful in both the tropical and romantic styles of music. Santa Rosa boasts an impressive resume, which includes a 1990 Billboard Premio Lo Nuestro for Best Male Singer, a Latin GRAMMY® in 2006 for Best Salsa Album, and a GRAMMY® in 2007 for Best Tropical Album. "El Caballero" participated in the first Festival Presidente in the Dominican Republic and in July of 2008 became the first Salsa singer to perform at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona. As well, Santa Rosa has outsold many major Tropical artists including Celia Cruz and Marc Anthony. He is a master when it comes to Tropical music and his skill resonates in each song he releases; Latin crooner Víctor Manuelle can attest to this since it was Santa Rosa who discovered the Latin GRAMMY® nominated salsa singer.

Gilberto Santa Rosa will be at The Fillmore at the Jackie Gleason Theatre in Miami Beach, Florida on Saturday November 27, 2010.

Iron and Wine head to South Florida!

Many fell in love with Iron and Wine when Beam's tender and spare rendering of The Postal Service's "Such Great Heights" was featured on the GARDEN STATE film soundtrack in 2002. That same year, the South Carolina-born, Texas-based Beam announced himself as a classic American tunesmith with a precocious musical signature on Iron and Wine's epically sparse debut album "The Creek Drank the Cradle", followed by 2003's "The Sea & The Rhythm" EP, 2004's full-length "Our Endless Numbered Days", 2005's "Woman King" EP, as well as "In the Reins", a collaboration with rock band Calexico.

In 2007, Iron and Wine released the lyrically evocative, casually atmospheric "The Shepherd's Dog", which debuted at No. 24 on Billboard's Top 200 Album chart and earned praise from critics, who hailed as a major musical leap forward.

The New York Times called it "the brilliant culmination of [Beam's] experiments," while Entertainment Weekly noted that Beam "has added dimension to his style without sacrificing its gorgeous tranquility." Filter called "The Shepherd's Dog" Iron and Wine's "grandest album to date," while Q compared it to quicksand, calling it "subtle, surprising, and utterly absorbing."

In 2008, Iron and Wine's song "Flightless Bird, American Mouth" was featured on the best-selling soundtrack to the blockbuster film TWILIGHT.

Iron and Wine will be releasing, "Kiss Each Other Clean", its first new album in over three years at the start of 2011.

Iron and Wine will be at The Fillmore at the Jackie Gleason Theatre in Miami Beach, Florida on Thursday November 18, 2010.

Adam Lambert, Katy Perry, Flo Rida, Selena Gomez... and many others headline the 2010 Y-100 JINGLE BALL!

Y-100, Miami’s biggest music station and one of the most popular in the country, has assembled the year’s biggest radio chart-toppers for this year's 2010 Y-100 JINGLE BALL. This year’s show will feature headliners Katy Perry and Adam Lambert, among others.

Katy Perry is sure to perform some of her biggest hits from her new “Teenage Dream” album, including the #1 title track and “California Gurls.” She last performed at the Y-100 JINGLE BALL in 2008, in support of her “One of the Boys” album. He’ll take the stage in South Florida for the second time in less than three months as part of the Y-100 JINGLE BALL and by popular demand too. He was #1 on the radio station’s poll as to who listeners wanted to see at the show. He hosted last year’s 2009 Y-100 JINGLE BALL along with “Gossip Girl” star Leighton Meester, but did not perform.

Selena Gomez will take the stage for the first time to perform hits from her album “A Year Without Rain,” while B.o.B. will also make his Y-100 JINGLE BALL debut performing his smash debut singles from this year, including “Airplanes” with Hayley Williams and “Nothin’ On You” with Bruno Mars.

Taio Cruz also makes his first Y-100 JINGLE BALL appearance, thanks to his hit singles off his “Rokstarr” album, including the #1 “Break Your Heart” and “Dynamite.” Jay Sean is also “Down” for the party for the first time, sure to party like its “2012.”

Flo Rida returns for another year, having performed at last year’s concert, while Enrique Iglesias makes his return to the Y-100 JINGLE BALL this year. Train and The Script, offering some much-need rock sounds to the proceedings, will also perform.

The 2010 Y-100 JINGLE BALL will be at the Bank Atlantic Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Saturday December 11, 2010.

The newly revamped revival of DREAMGIRLS heads to South Florida!

The national tour of the revamped Tony Award-winning 1982 Broadway musical DREAMGIRLS has announced dates through the end of 2010, with engagements planned in San Francisco, Atlanta, Memphis and Miami.

Director and co-choreographer Robert Longbottom (SIDE SHOW and revivals of FLOWER DRUM SONG and BYE BYE BIRDIE) and Emmy-nominated (FOX TV’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?) hip-hop artist Shane Sparks co-choreographed the production that launched at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem in November 2009.

Moya Angela stars as Effie White alongside Syesha Mercado as Deena Jones, Adrienne Warren as Lorrell Robinson and Margaret Hoffman as Michelle Morris. Principal casting also includes Chaz Lamar Shepherd as Curtis Taylor, Jr., Chester Gregory as James "Thunder" Early, Trevon Davis as C.C. White and Milton Craig Nealy as Marty Madison.

DREAMGIRLS features music by Henry Krieger and book and lyrics by Tom Eyen (with additional lyrics by Reale). The late Michael Bennett directed and choreographed the original 1982 Broadway production (Michael Peters co-choreographed); Bennett and Peters won Tony Awards for the show's choreography.

Tony Award winner Robin Wagner, who created the scenic designs for the original 1982 Broadway production of DREAMGIRLS, rendered new designs for this production. The design team also boasts Tony winners William Ivey Long (costume design) and Ken Billington (lighting design), and Acme Sound Partners (sound design), with media design by Howard Werner for Lightswitch.

Sam Davis serves as musical director for the production that has orchestrations by Harold Wheeler, and vocal arrangements by David Chase and Cleavant Derricks.

Drawing apparent inspiration from Diana Ross and the Supremes, DREAMGIRLS follows its central trio's beginnings at an amateur-night competition, to their first big break singing back up for a headliner on the road. Their road to success is not without its bumps: When they ultimately nab a headlining deal of their own, one girl's dreams are shattered as she is replaced as the lead of the Dreams.

This latest stage incarnation of DREAMGIRLS, which first played a test run in Seoul with an all-Korean cast last winter, includes the song "Listen," from the 2006 multi-Academy Award winning film adaptation. The song has been rewritten by Krieger and Willie Reale. In the current production, the song has been reconceived as a duet for Effie and Deena. Krieger and Reale also penned a new opening sequence for the second act, entitled "What Love Can Do."

DREAMGIRLS will be at the Ziff Ballet Opera House at the Arsht Center in downtown Miami, Florida… from October 19 thru 24, 2010.

Brazilian recording artist Djavan brings his new tour to South Florida!

Grammy® Award winning Brazilian recording artist Djavan (pronounced Dee-jah-van) was born Djavan Caetano Viana in 1949 in Maceió, a town in Brazil’s northeastern state of Alagoas. Djavan started playing music at the age of 16, first playing in a Beatles cover band. He began his professional career in 1973 when he moved to Rio de Janeiro to record songs for Brazilian soap operas. Djavan became a national name when his song ‘Fato Consumado’ (Consummated Facted) won second place at the Abertura Festival. The song became known all over Brazil and enabled him to release his first album. With his first three recordings on EMI, Djavan established himself as one of Brazil’s top musicians with his major hit songs ‘Meu Bem Querer’ and 'Seduzir'.

In 1982, Djavan signed with Sony Music (then CBS Brazil) and released “Luz” (Light) in 1983. Luz was recorded in the United States with his band Sururu de Capote and guest musicians Stevie Wonder, Hubert Laws and Ernie Watts. The lavishly produced recording was immensely popular in Brazil, where Djavan was fast becoming a superstar. Just a year later, Djavan performed his first United States concert at the Avery Fischer Hall in New York City and quickly became an international sensation. Quincy Jones became one of the most enthusiastic supporters of his international career and signed him to Qwest Records.

Djavan’s international success has led his songs to be covered by artists such as Al Jarreau, Carmen McRae, The Manhattan Transfer, and top Brazilian Artists such as Gal Costa, Daniela Mercury, Caetano Veloso and others.

From the late 1980s through the mid-1990s, Djavan was incredibly prolific, releasing a new album almost every year. In 1999, Djavan recorded his first live album “Ao vivo”, a celebration of his artistic path of nearly thirty years. Recorded at the João Caetano Theater in Rio de Janeiro, “Ao vivo” would become his most popular album ever with over 1.2 million copies sold. The album featured old and new songs alike, including ‘Acelerou’ which would go on to win Best Brazilian Song at the inaugural Latin Grammy Awards. Djavan won Multishow awards for Best CD, Best Show, and Best Singer following the release of the album.

Now with more than 20 releases to his name, Djavan is touring in support of his album “Ária” which was released this past August 2010. On the new album, Djavan pays tribute to the artists that influenced him by performing a selection of cover songs rather than his own compositions. His live performance will continue this theme, including songs by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso and more.

Djavan will be at The Fillmore at the Jackie Gleason Theatre in Miami Beach, Florida on Friday October 29, 2010.

John Mellencamp brings his NO BETTER THAN THIS Tour to South Florida!

With initial dates for the first leg of John Mellencamp’s NO BETTER THAN THIS Tour starting at the end of this month, a new set of Mellencamp concert appearances that begin in February of next year has just been announced. The tour, designed as a uniquely formatted “evening with,” brings Mellencamp’s music to theater-sized venues, a rare opportunity to experience one of America’s most iconic songwriters and performers in an intimate setting, highlighting all phases of his artistry.

The new NO BETTER THAN THIS Tour dates commence in early February in New England and continue on to two stops in Canada before heading south to New York, Washington, Philadelphia and into the Carolinas and Florida.

The tour will feature classic Mellencamp material associated with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee over the course of his 35 year long career as well as the new music from “No Better Than This”. The album, released by Rounder Records, held the top spot on the Americana Music Chart for five straight weeks and was produced by T Bone Burnett. It was recorded in three historic locations in the American South: Savannah’s First African Baptist Church, Sun Studio in Memphis and Room 414 of San Antonio’s Gunter Hotel where Robert Johnson recorded in 1936. The sessions were documented on a 55-year-old mono tape recorder using just one vintage microphone at each location. Rolling Stone’s review of the album noted, “Mellencamp has never sounded looser or easier on a record,” suggesting the artist was “channeling spirits and stepping into period styles. They fit him perfectly." The Americana Music Association honored Mellencamp last month with its Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting, presented by Rosanne Cash.

As a reflection of the diversity of styles and material that have been a hallmark of Mellencamp’s eclectic career, the concerts are formatted into three segments. These showcase John Mellencamp in an acoustic context, fronting a small combo recalling blues/country and rockabilly roots and with his full rock band. Musicians backing Mellencamp include Michael Wanchic (guitar), Andy York (guitar), Miriam Sturm (violin), John Gunnell (electric and upright bass), Dane Clark (drums) and Troye Kinnett (accordion/keyboards).

Of special note is the fact that the tour’s “opening act,” is a documentary film by Kurt Markus entitled “It’s About You”. Shot on Super8 film over the course of last year’s Bob Dylan-John Mellencamp-Willie Nelson tour of minor league baseball stadiums, it chronicles the creation of “No Better Than This” while serving as a cinematic ‘think piece’ on the state of the country at the end of the first decade of the 21st Century. Markus, whose still work has put him in the front ranks of contemporary American photographers, has been cited for his extraordinary vision of his work documenting the American West and is the recipient of Life Magazine’s Alfred Eisenstaedt Photography Award.

Mellencamp noted, “I’m very excited to have the opportunity at this time in my life to go on tour and present these songs in this manner.”

John Mellencamp will be at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Thursday March 3, 2011.

Pink Floyd tribute band THE PINK FLOYD EXPERIENCE heads back to South Florida!

Pink Floyd is rarely discussed without using words like “psychedelic”, “conceptual” and “provocative”. Their shows are described as being theatrical with mind-blowing lights and unsurpassed sound. And their music cannot be referred to without making mention of their record breaking status. Without question Pink Floyd remains one of the most influential rock bands of all time. No easy feat to bring such a story to the stage…

Annerin Productions has endeavored to bring fans the show they never thought they’d see. They searched the continent for committed and talented musicians who could really do it justice. This was a project that was not going to happen if it could not be done right.

The vision was not to produce a stadium show. In fact, in an effort to create the true Pink Floyd experience it would be just the opposite. Two key factors were at the core of the plan…

• Keep it intimate. Put the legendary combination of music, sound and lights in a theatre atmosphere.

• Ensure the sensual attack of Floyd. Give it top priority along with the music.

They nailed it. They found the band, the lights and the sound to create THE show for the ultimate Floyd fan, and it’s called…THE PINK FLOYD EXPERIENCE!

THE PINK FLOYD EXPERIENCE will be at the Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Thursday February 10, 2011.

Lucie Arnaz brings An Evening with Lucille Ball: THANK YOU FOR ASKING to South Florida!

A celebration of the first lady of television, An Evening with Lucille Ball: THANK YOU FOR ASKING is a touching, funny and uplifting one-woman play performed by actress and renowned impressionist, Suzanne LaRusch, and written by Suzanne LaRusch & Lucie Arnaz. Crafted in the spirit of the amusing lectures Lucy enjoyed giving throughout her career, the evening recreates the comic genius and the magic behind the “Queen of Comedy.” Arnaz also directs the piece with her award winning knowledge of the theatre and of her mother!

Lucy guides us through the lifetime of personal memories inspiring her timeless sketches on “I Love Lucy,” her 30-year television career and never-before heard personal recollections about her tempestuous and complicated marriage to Cuban bandleader turned impresario, Desi Arnaz. It’s the Lucy the whole world loved – from "Ricardo" to MAME – but, more importantly, it’s an evening with the REAL Lucy, as you’ve never seen her before.

An Evening with Lucille Ball: THANK YOU FOR ASKING, evolved from two other shows Suzanne wrote and performed as the famous Redhead, LUCY THROUGH THE YEARS and THANK YOU FOR ASKING. This incarnation is based on a series of lectures, Q & A and television interviews done by the late, great Lucille Ball.

Suzanne had difficulty finding a director who knew "Lucy" AND knew theater, (a combination not so easy to find believe it or not). Friends with the Arnaz family for many years; Suzanne asked Lucie Arnaz, (award winning producer and Broadway actress), MIGHT she consider being "my dream director"? After seeing an early version of the show; Lucie not only offered to direct but co-author a new script and produce the show with her husband, acclaimed actor Laurence Luckinbill. Much of the material in this show was gathered firsthand from stories told to Suzanne by Lucille Ball's personal staff, friends, family and from information contained in "A BOOK", by Desi Arnaz (William Morrow) and "LOVE, LUCY", by Lucille Ball (Putnam).

An Evening with Lucille Ball: THANK YOU FOR ASKING will be at the Amaturo Theatre at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from February 17 thru 20, 2011.

Better Than Ezra bring their ROAD TO MARDI GRAS Tour to South Florida!

“You can never accuse Better Than Ezra of being a shoegazer band,” frontman/songwriter Kevin Griffin says. “Our show is a lot of fun, and it’s entertaining, whether we’re getting people onstage to play our instruments or I’m using a digital sampler out in the crowd to sample phrases people are saying to me and then mix it into a song, There’s usually something different that we’re gonna do in addition to a different set list every night when you come and see us. That’s our mantra — we put on a great show.”

Formed in 1988 in New Orleans and broke out in a big way with the 1995 release of the major label album “Deluxe”. Over the ensuing years, the band has not rested on its laurels. Says Griffin: “I think the reason we’ve been able to stick around as long as we have is that we’re all bringing in new influences into the band. Whether I’m listening to a Friendly Fires album or MGMT or the new Raconteurs, you’re gonna hear that in our music.”

While the origin of the band name remains a well-kept secret, the seemingly mysterious title of Better Than Ezra’s latest project, “Paper Empire”, speaks right to the heart of a world asking a lot of questions and ultimately discovering the things worth holding onto. “I was drawn to that phrase Paper Empire,” Griffin explains. “It seemed apropos given the current economic woes and where we are right now. Most of these institutions in your life— whether it’s love, relationships, your belief system, religious convictions, or politics—are pretty fragile when it comes down to it. There’s a really precarious nature to everything that you hold dear in your life. If you recognize that, you're more likely to do a better job taking care of it.”

Better Than Ezra will be at the Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Wednesday November 17, 2010.

Bob Dylan hits Florida with various dates!

After doing some bootlegging and trying to reinvent the concert experience, it’s good to see Bob Dylan getting back to what he’s really known for: touring. And per his Fall 2010 itinerary, it looks like the music legend is going for the record of most tour dates crammed into a two months. Did we mention he’s 69 years old?

Currently on the road in several cities in Florida, Dylan’s going to be spending all of October and November zig-zagging his way across this wonderful country of ours. Expect Dylan to play lots of college shows, because clearly the kids love them some “Blonde on Blonde”.

Of course, Dylan’s also not forgetting about his other huge audience, the older folk, which explains the two shows at casinos. He also hasn’t neglected about non-students or the relatively young and has three back-to-back-to-back shows at NYC’s Terminal 5. When it’s all said and done (for now that is), Dylan wraps up on November 27th in Mashantucket, CT.

Bob Dylan will be at the Arena at D. Taft University (on the grounds of Nova University) in Davie, Florida tonight Wednesday October 6, 2010; at the Stephen O’Connell Center (on the grounds of the University of Florida) in Gainesville, Florida on Friday October 8, 2010; at the UCF Arena (on the grounds of the University of Central Florida) in Orlando, Florida on Sunday October 10, 2010 and at the Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center in Tallahassee, Florida on Monday October 11, 2010.

Hanson brings their SHOUT IT OUT Tour to South Florida!

Hanson is proud to announce the launch of the third leg of their North American SHOUT IT OUT Tour, which begins November 1st, in support of their critically acclaimed fifth album, “Shout It Out”, released on their own independent 3CG Records, which debuted #2 on the Billboard independent charts. The final leg of the tour takes the band to the southeast and east coast, following the success of their summer tour across the south and midwest.

Coinciding with the tour, the multi-Grammy-nominated band has been enjoying a massive resurgence in response to the album’s first single and video “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’”, available at all major digital outlets. The single continues to move up the charts at radio, and the emotive retro dance infused music video quickly garnered over 2 million views online and has climbed into the top 10 on VH1′s top 20 countdown. The video, featuring a guest performance by “Weird” Al Yankovic, is an exuberant homage to classic film The Blues Brothers, recreating the iconic scene where the band’s soulful music incites hundreds of people to dance in the street. The excitement has spread to the band’s fanbase, inspiring them to reenact the video’s dance sequence in flashmobs, around the world.

On the SHOUT IT OUT Tour the band continues to live up to their reputation as a dynamic live act featuring music from the new album, as well as songs from across their 13 year catalogue and an ever changing list of covers, reflecting their classic R&B and Rock ‘n’ Roll roots each night. Following the band’s recent sold out five night stand in New York featuring all five of their albums performed in their entirety, the New York Times noted, “Hanson has evolved into a nuanced and largely respected musical outfit”.

Billboard said that “Shout It Out” represents some of the band’s “most soulful work ever committed to record”, while Salon hailed that the new single “may be their finest moment yet”, Entertainment Weekly praised “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’” as “a delicious, catchy slice of pop- soul”, and Idolator predicted, “don’t be surprised if there’s a Hanson revival in 2010.″

The third leg will feature Jarrod Gorbel, formerly leader of rock band The Honorary Title, coinciding with the release of his debut solo album “Devil’s Made A New Friend”. The first two legs of the tour have brought together a wide array of music fans, with direct support from Rooney and A Rocket To The Moon, as well as a local independent artist in each market who won the chance to open the show via contests in partnership with ourstage.com.

Throughout the tour the band is continuing their activism efforts, raising funds to fight extreme poverty and HIV/AIDS in Africa (TakeTheWalk.net) through hosting one-mile barefoot walks in each city with fans. In partnership with Livestream, the band has also integrated dynamic livestreaming content into every aspect of their activities, streaming everything from live acoustic performances, interviews and guest appearances by tour mates to their walk events. These streams further the direct connection with their fans that the band has worked hard to maintain for over a decade (Hanson.net/Alive or livestream.com/Hansonmusic).

“Shout It Out” released on Hanson’s own 3CG Records on June 8th, was written and produced by Hanson, augmented with special guests: Funk Brothers bassist Bob Babbitt, who played on some of Motown’s greatest hits, as well as horn arranger Jerry Hey, who worked with Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Earth, Wind and Fire and many more.

Hanson will be at the Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Saturday November 6, 2010.
