Aventura brings their THE LAST TOUR to South Florida!

Bachata/R&B group Aventura has embarked on their final US outing, THE LAST TOUR, promoting their recently released album, "The Last."

The New York-based quartet set out on the 1st leg of their final tour on November 20, 2009 in Chicago. The 15-city excursion crisscrossed the nation, hitting arenas and theaters in major markets on both coasts and in parts of the South before the final show of the 1st leg on January 20, 2010 in New York City.

The band begins the 2nd leg of their final tour June 16th again in Chicago and plans to bring the tour to and end on July 10th in New Jersey... but is this 2nd leg of the tour really the last for this international music sensation? Probably not.

There were rumors going around that this was the final hoorah for band. The fact that they named their album, as well as their upcoming tour, "The Last" certainly didn't help. Not to mention the band hinted at calling it quits in the "Intro" track of their latest offering.

Seems the band is not breaking up. They are just leaving their label, Premium Latin
Music. Of course, hinting that a breakup is on the horizon is a great way to sell some Aventura tickets and move a few albums.

Aventura continues supporting "The Last," the group's fifth studio effort, which hit shelves earlier this summer. The 18-track, mostly Spanish-language album, which includes guest appearances by Wyclef Jean and Ludacris on the single "Spanish Fly," debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200.

According to Nielson SoundScan, "The Last" has moved more than 145,000 copies to date.

Aventura will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Tuesday and Wednesday July 6 & 7, 2010.

Christina Aguilera’s BIONIC Tour has been moved to 2011!

Christina Aguilera’s summer BIONIC Tour has been moved to 2011 due to prior commitments that the singer had made to her film "Burlesque" and to the promotion of her new album "Bionic".

The singer felt she needed more time to rehearse the show and with less than a month between the album release and tour date this wasn’t possible.

New dates will be announced later this year.

U2 Postpones 360 Tour's South Florida Date until 2011!

Tour promoters Live Nation have confirmed that the sixteen U2 360° shows from Salt Lake City on June 3rd, through to New Jersey's Meadowlands Stadium on July 19th, will be rescheduled for 2011. This includes Miami's Sun Life Stadium July 9th show.

U2 tour producer/promoter Arthur Fogel, CEO of Live Nation Global Touring, said,
"Although we understand the disappointment to U2 fans, first and foremost comes the recovery of Bono."

Bono underwent emergency surgery on Friday May 21, 2010, following a back injury. According to Bono's doctor, Muller Wohlfahrt,
"Bono suffered severe compression of the sciatic nerve. On review of his MRI scan, I realized there was a serious tear in the ligament and a herniated disc, and that conservative treatment would not suffice. I recommended Bono have emergency spine surgery with Professor Tonn at Munich's LMU University Hospital on Friday."

Bono had been suffering from a "partial paralysis" in his lower leg, says Wohlfahrt in the release. Says Tonn:
"Bono is now much better, with complete recovery of his motor deficit."

Bono has been discharged from Ludwig Maximilians-University Hospital and will start a rehabilitation program expected to last at least eight weeks. Additional details on rescheduled dates will follow shortly and fans are encouraged to hold on to their tickets.

We'll post all updates as soon as they are confirmed.

Cirque du Soleil brings KOOZA to South Florida!

KOOZA tells the story of The Innocent, a melancholy loner in search of his place in the world.

KOOZA is a return to the origins of Cirque du Soleil: It combines two circus traditions Рacrobatic performance and the art of clowning. The show highlights the physical demands of human performance in all its splendor and fragility, presented in a colorful m̩lange that emphasizes bold slapstick humor.

"KOOZA is about human connection and the world of duality, good and bad," says the show’s writer and director David Shiner. "The tone is fun and funny, light and open. The show doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it’s very much about ideas, too. As it evolves we are exploring concepts such as fear, identity, recognition and power."

The Innocent's journey brings him into contact with a panoply of comic characters such as the King, the Trickster, the Pickpocket, and the Obnoxious Tourist and his Bad Dog.

Between strength and fragility, laughter and smiles, turmoil and harmony, KOOZA explores themes of fear, identity, recognition and power. The show is set in an electrifying and exotic visual world full of surprises, thrills, chills, audacity and total involvement.

Several of the 50 performing artists in the show have received awards from important circus arts competitions, notably in juggling and trapeze.

The show presents an unprecedented approach to the High Wire and a breathtaking Wheel of Death - an act that Cirque du Soleil has never before presented under the big top.

Cirque du Soleil's KOOZA will be Under the Grand Chapiteau at Bicentennial Park in downtown Miami, Florida starting on Friday November 12, 2010 and is expected to run thru late December 2010.

Sublime with Rome hits South Florida this Summer!

Ska-punk outfit Sublime with Rome will continue introducing the nation to new frontman, singer/songwriter Rome Ramirez, on their in-progress road trip, which now extends through summer.

The newly minted Sublime with Rome, which first hit the road last month, will take to the road again beginning June 5th in Irvine, CA. The 20-date outing works its way all the way to the East Coast before wrapping up August 18th in Tempe, AZ.

"To go back out on the road and play this music again is a gift," Gaugh said in a press statement. "We want to celebrate the music and share the experience for not only our fans, but also for ourselves. It's been 14 years and is long overdue."

Sublime with Rome marks the reunion of bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh, who last year performed with Ramirez as Sublime, but was ordered to stop by a California judge last fall when the estate of deceased founding member Bradley Nowell threatened legal action against the use of the band's original name. Nowell died of a drug overdose in May 1996 at the age of 28.
In a statement issued at the time of the ruling, Gaugh and Wilson said they would honor the injunction but that their goal was to continue sharing the music and message of Sublime with all of their fans around the world. "We intend to take the court's advice and work on a business solution to this issue," they said. "We hope the estate follows suit so the music of Sublime can live on and be accessible to everyone."

Sublime with Rome will be at the Sunset Cove Amphitheatre in Boca Raton, Florida on Sunday July 25, 2010.

Natalie Merchant heads to South Florida this Summer!

Singer/songwriter Natalie Merchant returns to stages this summer in support of her new poetry-themed album, "Leave Your Sleep," the singer's first studio release in seven years.

Merchant's career spans three decades -- as the leader of 10,000 Maniacs and in her own solo work -- of making warmly personal music. In the 1980s, Natalie Merchant led the great folk-rock band 10,000 Maniacs. She went solo in the '90s, and to maintain creative control over her music, she self-funded her debut album, "Tigerlily", which had chart-toppers like "Jealousy," "Carnival" and "Wonder." She recorded her sophomore album, "Ophelia", at her home studio; the album went platinum, and she headlined at Lilith Fair and joined the American Folk Music Tour before releasing "Motherland", which paired her rich voice with more strings.

Merchant independently released her 2003 album, "The House Carpenter's Daughter", which veers back toward classic folk; she covers traditional songs such as "House Carpenter" and "Weeping Pilgrim," an 18th-century hymnal she found in the NY Public
Library archives. Merchant is dedicated to supporting a wide array of nonprofits and social justice groups.

Released on April 13th, Merchant's ambitious new album, "Leave Your Sleep," sets poems by such artists as Gerard Manley Hopkins, Edward Lear, Nathalia Crane and others to music.

"Leave Your Sleep' is the most elaborate project I have ever completed or even imagined," Merchant said on her website. "Nearly seven years ago I set out to create a piece of work I hoped could capture the universal experience of childhood through poetry and music."

Merchant collaborated with 130 musicians on the album, according to USA Today, including Medeski, Martin and Wood and the New York Philharmonic. Lyrics from the album's songs are posted at the singer's website.

Natalie Merchant will be at the Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Wednesday August 25, 2010.

German rockers Scorpions have fleshed out more North American dates for their impending farewell trek in support of the band's final album, "Sting in the Tail."

The GET YOUR STING AND BLACKOUT WORLD TOUR outing, which kicks off June 18th in Holmdel, NJ, now runs through mid-August with a total of 25 North American stops, including concerts in Canada and Mexico.

Cinderella, Dokken, Ratt and Tesla will take turns providing opening support for the road trip.

The band has also mapped South American, Asian and European legs.

"We want to celebrate with a big party around the world," rhythm guitarist Rudolf Schenker, in a January 2010 interview, said of the band's decision to hang up its leather and guitars after more than 40 years. "We've had a really great career, coming out from Germany and showing people that rock can come out of Germany. I think we started as a gang built by friendship and musicality, and going and showing that the Germans can rock."

Last month, Scorpions unveiled "Sting in the Tail," the veteran band's 17th studio album. The set, which features help from Swedish producers Mikael "Nord" Andersson and Martin Hansen, debuted at No. 23 on The Billboard 200, marking the band's highest chart debut in more than two decades. The album's lead single, "Raised on Rock," is currently sitting at the top of the classic-rock radio charts nationwide.
