Celebrated singer, songwriter and former teen idol Paul Anka brings in the New Year in South Florida!

Over the five decades, Paul Anka has forged a career that's unlike any other in the history of pop. He's seamlessly made the transition from '50s teen idol to celebrated songwriter to a contemporary torchbearer for all that swings. The multi-talented musician has had a song on Billboard's charts in every decade since 1957 when he was only 17. According to BMI, since the inception of his career, Anka's songs have been performed well over 90 million times worldwide and his LP and single sales collectively number more than 80 million. He's recorded over 126 albums in a wide variety of languages, selling close to 15 million albums, internationally. Anka also has been named the 21st most successful artist in Billboard's history, putting him alongside music greats Elvis Presley and The Beatles.

With well over 900 songs to his credit, Mr. Anka's most memorable are "Put Your Head On My Shoulder”, “Lonely Boy”, "My Way," and the now famous theme from "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson."

Plenty of other artists have him to thank for some big hits, too. His impressive body of work includes such titles as "She's a Lady" (for Tom Jones), "Puppy Love" (Donny Osmond’s 1970s remake of Anka’s original), "It Doesn't Matter Any More" (for Buddy Holly) and "Teddy" (for Connie Francis). As for "My Way," which Anka famously turned from a little-known French song into a perennial showstopper for his late friend Frank Sinatra, it can be heard at any given moment in a karaoke bar somewhere on the planet.

Born in 1941 into a tight-knit Lebanese-Canadian family in Ottawa, Anka didn't waste much time getting his life in music started. He sang in the choir at St. Elijah Syrian Orthodox Church and briefly studied piano. He honed his writing skills with journalism courses, even working for a spell at the Ottawa Citizen. By 13, he had his own vocal group, The Bobbysoxers.

In 1956, he released his first single, "Blau-Wile Deverest Fontaine." While not his biggest hit, Anka kept plugging away, going so far to sneak into Fats Domino's dressing room to meet the legend. The following year, he released "Diana," which made him a star. He began penning hits for a variety of popular singers and found himself amongst the 'Cavalcade of Stars' surrounded by the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Frankie Lyman, Chuck Berry and even future girlfriend Annette Funicello.

Becoming a junior associate of Sinatra and the Rat Pack had its privileges. By the '70s, the success of "My Way" and a string of hits like "(You're) Having My Baby" confirmed his status as an icon of popular music. His later achievements as a recording artist included "Hold Me 'Til the Morning Comes," a hit duet with Peter Cetera in 1983, the Spanish-language album “Amigos” in 1996, and “Body of Work”, a 1998 duets album that featured Frank Sinatra, Celine Dion, Tom Jones and daughter Anthea Anka (who is married to TV and film actor Jason Bateman). Anka even co-wrote Michael Jackson's posthumous #1 worldwide hit, "This Is It," which has further cemented his place upon the most prolific and versatile songwriters of any generation.

Anka's most recent albums “Classic Songs, My Way and Rock Swings” (2005) further reinforce his enduring popularity. “Rock Swings” which featured jazzed-up renditions of popular hits like Van Halen's "Jump," Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun," Pet Shop Boys' "It's a Sin" and Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" hit #2 on Billboard's Jazz Chart, sold half-a-million albums worldwide and set a milestone for Anka as being the only artist in history to have a record on Billboard's Top 50 chart for six consecutive decades.

On November 15, Anka will release his newest album, “Songs of December”, on Universal Music.

Paul Anka will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Saturday December 31, 2011.

Joe Bonamassa returns to South Florida!

A child prodigy, Joe Bonamassa was finessing Stevie Ray Vaughan licks when he was seven and by the time he was ten, had caught B.B. King's ear. After first hearing him play, King said, "This kid's potential is unbelievable. He hasn't even begun to scratch the surface. He's one of a kind." By age 12, Bonamassa was opening shows for the blues icon and went on to tour with venerable acts including Buddy Guy, Foreigner, Robert Cray, Stephen Stills, Joe Cocker and Gregg Allman.

Bonamassa's recording career began in the early '90s with Bloodline, a rock-blues group also featuring Robby Krieger's son Waylon and Miles Davis' son Erin. In summer 2000, he guested for Roger McGuinn on Jethro Tull's tour, later releasing his debut solo album, "A New Day Yesterday". Upon returning from the road, he recorded "So, It's Like That" and released a document of the tour, A New Day Yesterday Live. The following year Bonamassa put out "Blues Deluxe", featuring nine cover versions of blues classics alongside three originals. "You & Me" appeared in 2006, followed by the more acoustic-tinged "Sloe Gin" that debuted at #1 on Billboard's Blues Chart in 2007. A year later, Bonamassa released the two-disc live album "Live from Nowhere in Particular", followed in 2009 by "The Ballad of John Henry".

The year 2009 was big for Bonamassa. He was awarded the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award at the U.K.'s prestigious Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards and was also named Best Blues Guitarist in Guitar Player Magazine's 2009 Readers' Choice Awards for the third consecutive year. He also played to a sold out crowd at London's Royal Albert Hall. During the show, Bonamassa's hero, Eric Clapton, joined him on stage for a joint-performance of Clapton's hit "Further On Up The Road." Shortly after, Bonamassa released a 2-DVD live set, Joe Bonamassa – Live From The Royal Albert Hall.

On top of touring, recording and overseeing the independent label J&R Adventures with his entrepreneurial partner and manager Roy Weisman, Bonamassa is a spokesperson for the Blues Foundation's respected Blues in the Schools program, volunteering his time during tours to speak with groups of high school students about the heritage of blues music. Recently, he was chosen by Channel One, the largest in-school news network, to host an ongoing segment called "Know Your Roots with Joe Bonamassa" in which he traces the musical roots of Channel One's weekly "Hear It Now" featured artist.

Bonamassa's latest release was "Black Rock" (2009) which brought world vibes to Bonamassa's virtuoso mix of '60s-era British blues-rock (à la Beck and Clapton) and roots-influenced Delta sounds. The album features a fresh take on the Willie Nelson-penned song, "Night Life," which appeared on B.B. King's 1967 album "Blues Is King", Jeff Beck's "Spanish Boots," a lively version of Leonard Cohen's poetic "Bird On A Wire," Otis Rush's "Three Times A Fool" and Bobby Parker's "Steal Your Heart Away," among others.

Recently, Guitar World dubbed Bonamassa "The Blues Rock Titan" and his song, "Lonesome Road Blues," is a part of Guitar Hero V's New Blues Masters Track Pack.

Joe Bonamassa will be at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida on Tuesday November 22, 2011.

Waterloo brings their hit ABBA tribute show ABBA: The Concert back to South Florida in 2012!

The original ABBA was a smash dance and pop sensation imported from Sweden in the 70’s that went on to sell more than 365 million records. They proved themselves to be one of the most enduring and successful groups of all time, having dominated the record charts for nearly eight years. Their music is still capturing new fans with the global stage musical sensation MAMMA MIA!, which uses their catalogue of songs as its score. The stage show was made into a hit 2008 film starring Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan and Dominic Cooper.

Although the original members of ABBA have not performed together since 1983, their recognizable sound and alluring stage performance can be experienced through the band “Waterloo”. Waterloo pays tribute to ABBA and includes original members from ABBA’s band.

Waterloo was formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 1996 and quickly became known for its fantastic ABBA-sound and their stunning look-alike show. The band takes audiences back to an unforgettable time in pop history when glittering clothes and platform shoes dominated the music scene. The audience and press agreed, “This is the closest to ABBA you’ll ever get.”

During the late ‘90s, Waterloo toured clubs and festivals all around Scandinavia, Belgium and Asia. From 2001- 2008, Waterloo went into collaboration with Danish company CSE and the London National Symphony Orchestra, and “ABBA The Show” was born. The concert told the story of ABBA, and first appeared in Skien, Norway in September, 2001. This first show was followed by hundreds of additional performances all over the world. In total, Waterloo has performed approximately 1,000 shows in more than 25 countries.

During these tours, the show has always consisted of two or three guest artists who once were original members of the ABBA rhythm section. Over the years, original ABBA musicians have performed with Waterloo including Mike Watson (bass player), and Johan Stengaard (saxophone player), both of whom will be performing at the Luhrs Center engagement.

Waterloo’s latest “ABBA: The Concert” will guide audiences through ABBA’s musical history with all the classic hits and with a sound and look that bring back memories and the nostalgia of that era. Waterloo will amaze you with their period instruments, vintage costumes, hairstyles, on stage mannerisms, speaking voices, and unmistakable harmonies which capture the essence of ABBA.

Even the official ABBA Fan Club has named this tour: “the best ABBA tribute band in the world”!

ABBA: The Concert will be at the The Fillmore at the Jackie Gleason Theatre in Miami Beach, Florida on Friday January 20, 2012.

Legendary rocker Alice Cooper brings his NO MR. NICE GUY TOUR to South Florida!

Legendary rocker Alice Cooper heads across the U.S. with his new NO MR. NICE GUY TOUR.

The tour coincides with the release of his new “Welcome 2 My Nightmare” album, produced by longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin (who also produced the original “Welcome to My Nightmare” album in 1975). The release features a host of special guests (including the three other surviving members of the original band, "Nightmare" guitarists Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner, Alice's touring band, Vince Gill, Rob Zombie, and, most shockingly, Ke$ha) as Alice revisits his legendary nightmares. The original release is an all-time rock classic that spawned a worldwide theatrical tour and certified Alice Cooper as a visionary trailblazer whose influence persists today in rock, metal, pop, punk, theatre, television, film and much more.

Without Alice Cooper, there might never have been the New York Dolls, KISS, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Motley Crüe, Slipknot or Rob Zombie ... maybe not even David Bowie, or at least not Ziggy Stardust. Known as the architect of shock-rock, Alice Cooper has rattled the cages and undermined the authority of generations of guardians of the status quo, continuing to surprise fans and exude danger at every turn, like a great horror movie, even in an era where CNN can present real life shocking images.

Alice Cooper actually began as a band led by its stage-namesake Vincent Furnier. According to band legend, the name came to Furnier during a Ouija board session, where he was told he was the reincarnation of a 17th century witch of the same name. Under Furnier's direction, the band Alice Cooper pioneered a grandly theatrical and violent brand of heavy metal that was designed to shock. Drawing equally from horror movies, vaudeville, heavy metal, and garage rock, the group created a stage show that featured electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood, and huge boa constrictors, all coordinated by the heavily made-up Furnier. By that time, Furnier had adopted the name for his androgynous on-stage personality.

In 1971, the band gained notoriety with the gold “Love It to Death”, which featured the #21 hit single "Eighteen"; the album peaked at number 35 and went gold. “Killer”, released late in 1971, was another gold album. “School's Out” was Alice Cooper's breakthrough record, peaking at #2 and selling over a million copies. The title song became a Top Ten hit in the U.S. and a number one single in the U.K. “Billion Dollar Babies”, released the following year, was the group's biggest hit, reaching #1 in both America and Britain; the album's first single, "No More Mr. Nice Guy," became a Top Ten hit in Britain, peaking at #25 in the U.S.

Having officially changed his name to Alice Cooper, Furnier embarked on a similarly theatrical solo career releasing “Welcome to My Nightmare” in 1975. A Top Ten hit, it launched the hit acoustic ballad "Only Women Bleed." “Alice Cooper Goes to Hell” (1976) was another hit, going gold in the U.S.

Personal troubles plagues Cooper, though he persevered making a successful comeback in the late '80s sparked by his appearances in horror films and a series of pop-metal bands that paid musical homage to his classic early records and concerts. “Constrictor” (1986) and “Trash” (1989) returned Cooper to the spotlight with the platinum "Poison." Other releases followed keeping Cooper in the spotlight as did a syndicated radio show, "Nights with Alice Cooper." “Along Came a Spider” (2008) a concept album that told the story of a spider-obsessed serial killer was followed by the live album “Theatre of Death” (2010) along with a download-only EP of redone Cooper classics titled “Alice Does Alice”.

With his influence on rock and roll long since acknowledged, there is little that Alice Cooper hasn't achieved in his remarkable career, including platinum albums, sold-out tours and any number of honors and career achievement awards.

Alice Cooper will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Thursday December 15, 2011.

Janet Jackson brings her NUMBER ONES - UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL World Tour to South Florida!

The iconic Janet Jackson's NUMBER ONES - UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL World Tour has sold out across North America in record time. The 35-city tour has been making headlines due to this being Janet's largest world tour ever.

Janet is the fastest selling single artist performance ticket this year. The tour has sold out multiple nights in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Chicago, Washington DC and Atlantic City as well as single nights in Atlanta and Santa Barbara (Janet now ranks as one of the fastest sold out shows in the 25 year history of the Santa Barbara Bowl).

"These concerts will be different from anything I have ever done. I will be as up close and personal as possible," Jackson said in a statement. "These concerts are not about special effects. This is a love affair between me and those of you who have supported me and my work for all these years. I'll be singing and dancing from my heart. The music will all be songs that you've made number ones for me. Let's go!"

The NUMBER ONES - UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL World Tour is the first time Janet has hit the road since her record-breaking appearance at The Essence Music Festival. These performances will be Janet's largest ever world tour celebrating, for the first time, the icon's 35 number one hits in 35 global cities. Janet still holds the record for the most successful debut concert tour by a recording artist with her 1990 RHYTHM NATION Tour and is continuing to shatter records.

Janet was recently nominated for a Best Actress NAACP Image Award for her performance in Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married Too" for which she also co-wrote the theme song "Nothing". The ballad achieved number one iTunes status. Janet recently also co-starred in Tyler Perry's "For Colored Girls".

Janet's new book "True You" was recently published by Karen Hunter Publishing, an imprint of Gallery Books at Simon & Schuster. Janet's first book reveals her unique, never before revealed perspective on self-esteem.

"True You" chronicles Janet's lifelong struggles with weight and self-esteem. Though not a biography, Janet shares intimate stories from her past, present and until now private communications from her fans on their mutual struggles. "We took this journey together and if my fans had not been so open with me about their problems, I don't believe I would have been able to share this truth," Janet said.

"True You" features information from Janet's personal nutritionist, David Allen, a detailed food and menu plan including never before published recipes, created specifically for Janet by Chef Andre of Kathy Ireland's Worldwide Acafe, and finally Janet's personal journey with her long time and award-winning personal trainer Tony Martinez.

"Everyone is not blessed to have someone like Tony who makes being healthy and fit fun. Being able to share Tony's gifts with my fans, especially young people, is very motivating to me. Tony is a genius," Janet continued. The book is a self-help, healing guide of hope where Janet will use anecdotes from her life to illustrate the power of self acceptance and love.

Cirque du Soleil brings… Michael Jackson: THE IMMORTAL World Tour to South Florida!

If you never got the chance to see Michael Jackson in concert, this could be the next best thing. Jackson's estate and Cirque du Soleil recently announced the dates for Michael Jackson: THE IMMORTAL World Tour.

Michael Jackson: THE IMMORTAL World Tour by Cirque du Soleil is an electrifying production that unfolds inside the creative mind of the King of Pop.

Written and directed by Jamie King, the multimillion-dollar show began its trek across North America to nearly 30 cities in October 2011. According to a press release, the event is set to combine Jackson's timeless tunes and choreography with Cirque's creative background to showcase "Michael's global messages of love, peace and unity." The production hopes to bring fans into a fantasy world based on the singer's inspirational Giving Tree, which remains the central muse for his love of everything including music, dance, fairy tale and magic, and nature.

Earlier this year, Cirque du Soleil President and CEO Daniel Lamarre spoke about incorporating the late singer's new, old and unreleased songs into the production. "We want to make sure that we will meet musical expectations from the fans."

The NETworks Tour of Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST returns to South Florida!

Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST features the animated film’s Academy Award®-winning score with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by the late Howard Ashman, with additional songs with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Tim Rice. The book is written by Linda Woolverton.

The original creators of the original 1994 Broadway production are together again for this new NETworks touring production. This new modified touring production is directed by Rob Roth and choreographed by Matt West, with Costume Design by Tony Award® winner Ann Hould-Ward, Lighting Design by Natasha Katz, Scenic Design by Stanley A. Meyer, Sound Design by John Petrafesa Jr. and Music Supervision by Michael Kosarin.

Director Rob Roth: “It has been wonderful to bring the entire original design team back together to work on this new production of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. As a Director, it is rare to have the opportunity to revisit your work fifteen years later. Hopefully I’ve grown and developed as an artist, along with my collaborators, and we can bring 15 years of experience to this new production. We have remained very close as a team over the years of producing the show around the world, and it has been so much fun getting together to re-explore and re-invent the show for this new NETworks tour. The theme of ‘BEAUTY’ is about seeing past the exterior into the heart of someone, and this is reflected in the design for the show, which is about transparency and layers, seeing past one thing and into another.”

Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is the classic story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

The Broadway musical adaptation has become an international sensation that has played to over 35 million people worldwide in 13 countries.

The NETworks Tour of Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST will be at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts from November 15 thru 27, 2011.

John Fogerty brings his 2011 Tour to South Florida!

As one of the most revered and influential artists to emerge in the '60s, John Fogerty is still a vital part of the musical landscape. As lead singer, guitarist and songwriter of Creedence Clearwater Revival and as a Grammy Award-winning, chart-topping solo artist, Fogerty's sound has encompassed everything from blues to country to southern swamp rock and roll.

As part of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Fogerty released nine Top Ten singles between 1969 and 1971 starting with the standard "Proud Mary." Creedence also scored eight gold albums between 1968 and 1972 including the hits "Bad Moon Rising" and "Fortunate Son."

Fan favorite hits include "Down on the Corner," "Who'll Stop the Rain," "Have You Ever Seen the Rain," "Midnight Special," "Lookin' out My Back Door" and "Born on the Bayou."

After Creedence split up in 1972, Fogerty released an album of covers, on which he played all the instruments, under the name the Blue Ridge Rangers in 1973. This was followed by a solo album, John Fogerty (1975).

Long legal battles over song credits led Fogerty away from the spotlight until 1984 when he rebounded with a Top Ten single, "The Old Man Down the Road," and a number one album, Centerfield. Eye of the Zombie followed in 1986. In 1997, he released Blue Moon Swamp and the live Premonition. In 2005, he put out Long Road Home: The Ultimate John Fogerty/Creedence Collection and its accompanying DVD, Long Road Home: In Concert, the first compilation of its kind to feature both CCR classics and Fogerty's solo work. After a number of concert appearances, Fogerty released Revival in 2007.

In 2009, he released The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again (2009), a series of hit songs from the past with impressive duets from the present, including Bruce Springsteen, Don Henley and Timothy B. Schmit.

Most recently, he celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the release of the smash Centerfield.
Revered as one of the greatest songwriters, singers and guitarists of all time, Fogerty was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.

John Fogerty will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Thursday November 10, 2011.

WrestleMania XXVIII comes to the Sun Life Stadium in 2012!

WrestleMania XXVIII will be held at Sun Life Stadium on April 1st, 2012 as the WWE recognized the value not only of the venue but of being able to showcase everything it’s about in one of the most diverse cities in America.

“Nobody does big events like Miami and no venue is more blessed to have these kinds of events,” said Dolphins CEO Mike Dee, who was joined by Hall-of-Fame quarterback Dan Marino and limited partner and Grammy Award winner Emilio Estefan. “It’s just great that we’re in a position to work with the community to bring WrestleMania here. It’s going to be a tremendous entertainment value for local fans but it’s going to bring a lot of people from all over the country and all over the world. It’s going to have a tremendous economic impact on the region.”

Though there have been other former NFL players to crossover into the ring, nobody from the Miami Dolphins has attempted to try the physically demanding sport since Wahoo McDaniel in the 1970s. Marino made it clear that he will not be the next.

“No, I never thought about it,” Marino said. “And I will never think about it. But it’s great for the city of Miami and that’s why I’m here. The Dolphins wanted me to come and show my support for this and to have this event at Sun Life Stadium, they were able to pull something special of because this is truly a big event. It’s very similar to the Super Bowl because it’s one big event”

In addition to the actual main event, which will be televised via pay-per-view to more than 100 countries, there will be a weeklong slate of events similar to Super Bowl week. Among them will be the 2012 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, WrestleMania Axxess, the finals of the WrestleMania Reading Challenge and a Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament.

Miami also has hosted Super Bowls before, but McMahon has wanted to bring WrestleMania to Miami for quite some time. “We should’ve been here before, actually,” McMahon said. “So many WWE fans have asked us through the years, ‘Why not Miami?’ and sometimes it takes me a while to make the right decision, and this is definitely the right decision. It’s going to be an extraordinary event. There are so many things that are appealing here and you want to go where you’re welcomed. We’re welcomed here and there’s a warm, personal feeling that you get from those who enjoy our sport and enjoy our form of entertainment.”

The Miz is the reigning WWE men’s champion and Diva Eve is the women’s champion. The two of them were very excited to see WrestleMania come to Miami, as was The Big Show, who is a Miami resident. Marino joked that he’d like to be The Big Show’s bodyguard.

WrestleMania XXVIII will be at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida on Sunday April 1, 2012.

Roger Waters brings THE WALL Live Tour back to South Florida in 2012!

Roger Waters has not kept it a secret that his visually stunning production of THE WALL would continue on into 2012. Now it’s known that it’s not just a few shows, but at least 36.

The 2012 version of the production begins in Houston at the Toyota Center May 1, 2012.

Waters has tweaked the show as it has gone along, adding or changing elements that have kept it relevant. But now it’s apparently been adjusted to make it an outdoor show – which should suit concertgoers having withdrawals now that U2’s extravagant production has been mothballed.

The latest trek includes stadium stops at San Francisco’s AT&T Park May 11, Vancouver’s BC Place May 26, Chicago’s Wrigley Field June 8, Toronto’s Rogers Centre June 23 and the last listed show at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park July 14.

There are also a few TBDs – in Los Angeles, Boston and New York – which could also mean stadiums if the right deals are worked out.

Those of you who’ve seen this show know what to do – bring a friend. It’s one of those concerts you’ve probably told all your more stationary buddies about.

“When Roger Waters finished building THE WALL in its entirety, at Madison Square Garden, it was just another brick on what was the best arena concert I’ve ever been to. Period,” wrote the New York Post’s Dan Aquilante.

For those who pay attention to the music, the tour includes guitarists Snowy White, Dave Kilminster, G.E. Smith, Harry Waters on Hammond Organ and Graham Broad on Drums.

Roger Waters’ THE WALL Live Tour will be at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise/Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Wednesday June 15, 2011.
