Legendary Engelbert Humperdinck returns to South Florida!

His name comes from the 1911, century Austrian composer who wrote "Hansel & Gretel." His voice comes from heaven, and he has been a legend in the international music industry for the last 40 plus years, with over 150 million records sold, four Grammy nominations, a Golden Globe, 64 gold and 24 platinum records and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His unique voice has charmed millions of fans around the globe.

Humperdinck, originally born Arnold George Dorsey, began studying music and playing the saxophone at age 11. At 17, he took on celebrity impersonations and in 1959 performed with the stage name Gerry Dorsey under which he released a single called "Crazybells/Mister Music Man."

Gerry Dorsey was very popular on the UK music circuit until he contracted tuberculosis, which silenced him for six months and nearly snuffed out his rising star. Upon regaining his health, Gerry Dorsey knew he had to bury his old, somewhat tainted image to make a comeback as a strong, dynamic performer, still tall, dark handsome and somewhat mysterious. His manager suggested the new name Engelbert Humperdinck. It was just outrageous enough to be memorable. It would take a man with a secure self-image and sense of humor to pull it off. And thus was born the soon-to-be legend, Engelbert Humperdinck.

Few people realize that it was Humperdinck, not Elvis, who made famous the sideburns and flamboyant leather jumpsuits. Engelbert often jokingly asserts that Elvis "stole" the image from him. Nevertheless, the two legends often performed one another's songs, and enjoyed a lasting friendship until Elvis' death. Humperdinck has always enjoyed a healthy rivalry with Tom Jones, and the two actually partnered for ten years and shared a manager for many, many more.

Humperdinck's first single in the charts was "Release Me," which went into the Guinness Book of Records for achieving 56 consecutive weeks in the charts. It was #1 in 11 countries.

In 1999, "Humper" recorded “The Dance Album” as his first album in the genre. The album featured newly recorded dance versions of six of Engelbert's greatest hits, along with five original songs. Favorites such as "Quando, Quando, Quando" and "Release Me" are set to an infectious dance beat by dance producer/ remixers Chris Cox and Barry Harris, known collectively as Thunderpuss 2000. The album enjoyed tremendous success, with "Release Me" hitting Top Ten in the Billboard Dance charts.

In 2004, Humperdinck published his autobiography, “What's In A Name”. More recently, the American Society of Young Musicians recognized Humperdinck as an artist who helped build the foundations of the music industry. Humperdinck joined an elite group including Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Brian Wilson, Liza Minnelli and Madonna.

On "Hump Day," July 20, 2011, Humperdinck, was honored by the Las Vegas Walk of Stars in the 55th star dedication ceremony in Las Vegas.

Engelbert Humperdinck will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Wednesday August 3, 2011.

AMERICAN IDOL’s Kellie Pickler heads to South Florida!

Kellie Pickler's dream took root in Albemarle, North Carolina where she took part in a handful of talent contests, worked as a Sonic waitress and studied to become a paralegal. Then, in the fall of 2005, she auditioned in Greensboro for FOX TV’s AMERICAN IDOL. Her raw talent and her attractive and unfiltered personality won her a legion of fans, among them the sometimes unpredictable Simon Cowell.

Pickler reached the show's final six, signed with BNA Records and recorded her first album in whirlwind sessions sandwiched between dates on the AMERICAN IDOL LIVE! Tour. Its release established her firmly in the country marketplace and her breath-of-fresh-air personality did the rest.

She established herself quickly as both a singer and a songwriter to be reckoned with, co-writing her first hit, "Red High Heels," her first gold single. Her debut album, “Small Town Girl”, produced two follow-up hits - the poignant "I Wonder," which she also co-wrote, and the light-hearted "Things That Never Cross a Man's Mind." Together, they propelled the release to near-platinum status.

Her second album, “Kellie Pickler”, for which she co-wrote half the songs, spawned the uplifting "Don't You Know You're Beautiful" and "Best Days of Your Life." The latter, co-written with Taylor Swift, quickly became the biggest hit of her career, rising to the Top Ten and earning Platinum in digital sales.

In her brief but sparkling career, Pickler won three 2008 CMT Music Awards--Breakthrough Video, Tearjerker Video and Performance of the Year -- all for "I Wonder," and has earned many other award nominations. She has received two ASCAP awards citing "Red High Heels" and "I Wonder" as among the most performed country songs of the year. Both her albums debuted #1 country and Top Ten overall in Billboard, a feat equaled by only six other females in country music.

She has hosted The View, graced the cover of USA Weekend, and served as correspondent in Times Square for Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest to usher in 2009.

Kellie Pickler will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Tuesday August 9, 2011.

80s icons The Go-Go’s bring their LADIES GONE WILD Tour to South Florida!

From their halcyon days as America's sweethearts to their current status as superstars who pioneered a genre, The Go-Go's have enjoyed an amazing three-decade reign as high pop priestesses. The internationally-loved hitmakers helped cement the foundation of the early '80s pop-rock sound without the aid of outside composers, session players or, most importantly, creative compromise. From their very first show, The Go-Go's sang and played their own songs, offering five feisty role models for a generation of ready-to-rock girls and good, hooky fun for pop-loving guys.

For Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, Charlotte Caffey, Gina Schock and Kathy Valentine, their story truly is a punk version of the American Dream.

The Go-Go's debuted in May of 1978, a time when there were other all-female bands, but ones orchestrated by men such as Phil Spector, Kim Fowley or Sonny Bono. The DIY band was conceived in the very same gritty glitter of the rough Los Angeles scene that also birthed X, The Germs, and The Weirdos. By '79, the Go-Go's were beating their path to stardom on their own terms. They played every cool club and party in L.A. and released an early version of "We Got the Beat" through the quirky Stiff Records in the UK.

By 1981, the band was signed to upstart new wave haven IRS records with “Beauty and The Beat” and the infectious debut U.S. single, "Our Lips Are Sealed" was released. The double-platinum “Beauty and The Beat” reached #1 and was followed-up by “Vacation” in '82 and “Talk Show” in '84. During those years, hits like the title track from "Vacation," "Head Over Heels" and "Turn to You" dominated the airwaves and, today, continue to live on in countless compilations, movie soundtracks, remakes and television commercials.

During the latter half of the 1980s, the group split to pursue solo interests but reunited in 1994 to contribute three new songs and extensive liner notes for the career-retrospective, “Return To The Valley of The Go-Go's”. On the strength of the VH-1 special, “God Bless The Go-Go's”, an all-new collection of songs was released in 2001. A stack of glowing reviews soon followed backed by a triumphant tour, later immortalized in the exciting DVD, “Live in Central Park”.

Today, with the original lineup intact, The Go-Go's live shows continue to deliver every bit of the raw energy of their now-legendary punk beginnings, tempered with the wisdom of three decades of pop perfection.

The Go-Go’s will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Sunday August 7, 2011.

Waterloo brings their hit ABBA tribute show ABBA: The Concert to South Florida!

The original ABBA was a smash dance and pop sensation imported from Sweden in the 70’s that went on to sell more than 365 million records. They proved themselves to be one of the most enduring and successful groups of all time, having dominated the record charts for nearly eight years.

Their music is still capturing new fans with the global stage musical sensation MAMMA MIA!, which uses their catalogue of songs as its score. The stage show was made into a hit 2008 film starring Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan and Dominic Cooper.

Although the original members of ABBA have not performed together since 1983, their recognizable sound and alluring stage performance can be experienced through the band “Waterloo”. Waterloo pays tribute to ABBA and includes original members from ABBA’s band.

Waterloo was formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 1996 and quickly became known for its fantastic ABBA-sound and their stunning look-alike show. The band takes audiences back to an unforgettable time in pop history when glittering clothes and platform shoes dominated the music scene. The audience and press agreed, “This is the closest to ABBA you’ll ever get.”

During the late ‘90s, Waterloo toured clubs and festivals all around Scandinavia, Belgium and Asia. From 2001- 2008, Waterloo went into collaboration with Danish company CSE and the London National Symphony Orchestra, and “ABBA The Show” was born. The concert told the story of ABBA, and first appeared in Skien, Norway in September, 2001. This first show was followed by hundreds of additional performances all over the world. In total, Waterloo has performed approximately 1,000 shows in more than 25 countries.

During these tours, the show has always consisted of two or three guest artists who once were original members of the ABBA rhythm section. Over the years, original ABBA musicians have performed with Waterloo including Mike Watson (bass player), and Johan Stengaard (saxophone player), both of whom will be performing at the Luhrs Center engagement.

Waterloo’s latest “ABBA: The Concert” will guide audiences through ABBA’s musical history with all the classic hits and with a sound and look that bring back memories and the nostalgia of that era. Waterloo will amaze you with their period instruments, vintage costumes, hairstyles, on stage mannerisms, speaking voices, and unmistakable harmonies which capture the essence of ABBA. Even the Official ABBA Fan Club has named this tour “the best ABBA tribute band in the world”!

ABBA: The Concert will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Wednesday July 27, 2011.

Rascal Flatts bring their NOTHING LIKE THIS Tour to South Florida!

Rascal Flatts' Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney had so much fun on the first leg of their NOTHING LIKE THIS Tour that they are extending it into 2011. The tour kicked-off again on January 14th in Sioux Falls, SD., and continues to cross the country thru the summer.

The group's new album of the same name hit stores on November 16, 2010. Considering that their last five albums have all reached No.1, and enjoyed platinum success, it would be easy for the Flatts guys to sit back and continue using the formula that has worked for them in the past, but that's not how they operate.

"We cut some things that we wouldn't have cut in the past, and we're really excited about doing something a little bit different this time," Jay says. "We've been with [producer] Dann Huff (Keith Urban, Faith Hill, Steel Magnolia) now for four records, and he really pulls something new out of us every time we get in the studio. This time, we went out to Santa Barbara, CA for about a week and tracked and did a little recording out there, just to mix it up a little bit. We just focused on the task at hand, and we got to collaborate with each other and talk about the direction of this record and really focus on it a lot more than we had in the past years."

Rascal Flatts will be at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida on Saturday August 20, 2011.

Roger Daltrey brings The Who’s TOMMY to South Florida!

The legendary frontman brings one of The Who’s legendary albums: TOMMY to the U.S. and Canada starting September 2011.

What’s different between Roger Daltrey's version of the tale depicting blind, deaf and dumb Tommy Walker and The Who’s 1989 tour featuring the 1969 album? As with the U.K. tour, the North American run is being described as the first start-to-finish performance of the rock opera. While The Who presented Tommy several times since the late 1960s, the band was known to leave out a song or two, most notably “Welcome” which was not included in the 1989 tour.

Daltrey and his band premiered their rendition of TOMMY at the March 25 Teenage Cancer Trust at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Since then, fans have been lusting for a full-blown TOMMY tour. For North American fans, this news was Christmas seven months early.

Daltrey also played the lead in the multi-award winning 1975 Ken Russell film adaptation of TOMMY, alongside: Ann-Margret, Jack Nicholson, Oliver Reed as well as Elton John, Eric Clapton, John Entwistle, Keith Moon and Tina Turner.

The AEG Live-produced tour launches at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida on September 13 and wraps in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the MTS Centre November 2. Stops in between include Boston at the Agganis Arena September 17; Philadelphia at the Mann Center September 21; Uniondale, NY, at Nassau Coliseum September 23; Montreal at Place Des Arts September 27; Ottawa, Ontario, at Scotiabank Place September 28 and Toronto at Sony Centre For The Performing Arts September 30.

Who has the chops to back Daltrey in this TOMMY undertaking? That would be guitarist Frank Simes, drummer Scott Deavours, bassist Jon Button and keyboardist Loren Gold. Also backing Daltrey on guitar will be Pete Townshend’s brother Simon, who has also played with The Who on the band’s recent tours.

“TOMMY, an album that tells a story about a ‘deaf, dumb and blind boy’ who becomes the leader of a messianic movement, will always be seen as a turning point for the band,” Daltrey said. “Within it, I found the new voice of The Who and the band found its stride in making that music, adjusting it, using all that knowledge that we had from jazz and the blues into making it work in a rock way.”

Roger Daltrey performs The Who’s TOMMY will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Tuesday September 13, 2011.

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts bring their summer tour to South Florida!

Joan Jett is an originator, an innovator and a visionary. As the leader of the hard-rocking Blackhearts, she's had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics "Bad Reputation," "I Love Rock 'N' Roll," "I Hate Myself For Loving You," and "Crimson and Clover." Jett was one of only two women named to Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest guitar players of all time.

Since co-founding the Runaways, the pioneering all-girl punk quintet, at age 15, Jett's determination and drive have kept her in the public eye. Her profile skyrocketed, yet, again, with the recent release of the recent feature film of the same name based on lead singer Cherie Currie's book “Neon Angel”. Jett served as an executive producer on the film.

Her music has become a permanent force in mainstream culture. Faith Hill sings "I Hate Myself for Loving You" as the theme for NBC's Sunday Night Football and "Bad Reputation" was the theme song for the "Hit Girl" heroine of the hit film, KICK ASS. Her cover of "Love is All Around" (the theme song of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”) became an anthem in women's sports and was used by the NCAA to promote the Women's Final Four. Jett supplied theme songs for the ESPN X-Games premiere and has contributed music to all of their games since.

Adding to Jett's list of accomplishments is Blackheart Records, an independent label she founded with long time songwriting partner and producer Kenny Laguna, in 1980 - which made her the first female artist to own and operate an independent record company. Blackheart Records is also currently home to such up-and-coming groups as San Antonio-based female threesome Girl in A Coma and Los Angeles' pop-punk trio the Dollyrots.

The multi-talented Jett has acted in movies, including 1987's LIGHT OF DAY, and played Columbia in the 2000 Tony-nominated Broadway musical revival of THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW. As a producer, she has overseen albums by Bikini Kill, Circus Lupus, as well as the Germs' LA punk masterpiece, GI. Additionally, she is a spokesperson for PETA and a devoted supporter of the U.S. Military.

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the hit "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," Joan Jett and the Blackhearts released the certified platinum-selling album on 180-gram clear vinyl on April 16, 2011. The exclusive Record Store Day reissue is a one-time pressing with only 1,000 copies available. The limited edition LP includes a download card of the entire album recorded at a 320 bit rate for optimal sound quality.

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Tuesday July 12, 2011.

Jose Jose sings a duet with Castro on the album and also recites a poem.

Castro told a press conference recently at Los Angeles' Greek Theater that the first leg of the tour will kick off on July 28 in Chicago, the Universal Music Latino record label said in a statement Thursday.

Hollywood icon George Hamilton headlines the LA CAGE AUX FOLLES Tour!

The producers of recent 2010 Broadway revival of the musical LA CAGE AUX FOLLES are proud to announce that George Hamilton will star in the upcoming national tour of the show as Georges.

The 1st National Tour of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES will be produced by Barry and Fran Weissler, Sonia Friedman Productions and David Babani in association with NETworks Presentations.

LA CAGE AUX FOLLES tells the story of Georges, the owner of a glitzy nightclub in lovely Saint-Tropez, and his partner Albin, who moonlights as the glamorous chanteuse Zaza. When Georges' son brings his fiancée's conservative parents home to meet the flashy pair, the bonds of family are put to the test as the feather boas fly! LA CAGE AUX FOLLES is a tuneful and touching tale of one family's struggle to stay together... stay fabulous... and above all else, stay true to themselves!

George Hamilton is noted for his dashing, sporting, jet-setter image and perpetually bronzed skin tones in commercials, dramatic and comedic film roles and reality shows.

George Hamilton with his exceedingly handsome looks and attractive personality, he took a bold chance and moved to Los Angeles in the late 1950s. Metro Goldwyn Mayer wasted no time putting him in films following some guest appearances on TV. His first film, a lead in “Crime & Punishment, USA” (1959), was an offbeat, updated adaptation of the Fyodor Dostoevsky novel. He was the recipient of a Golden Globe for "Most Promising Newcomer" as well as being nominated for "Best Foreign Actor" by the British Film Academy (BAFTA). This in turn led to an enviable series of film showcases such as “Home from the Hill”, “All the Fine Young Cannibals”, “Light in the Piazza” and “Two Weeks in Another Town”.

He performed several roles in numerous films but is best known for MGM films in the 1960s' “Where the Boys Are”, a coming-of-age romantic comedy in which Hamilton played a smooth Ivy League type. Hamilton made two memorable bio-pics: “Your Cheatin' Heart” in 1964, in which he portrayed the country-western music legend Hank Williams and in 1971, “Evel Knievel”, the life story of the motorcycle daredevil.

As the 1960s began to unfold, George Hamilton started making headlines more as a handsome escort to the rich, the powerful and the beautiful than as an acclaimed actor -- none more so than his 1966 squiring of President Lyndon B. Johnson's daughter Lynda Bird Johnson. From the 1970s on, George tended to be tux-prone on standard film and TV comedy and drama, whether as a martini-swirling opportunist, villain or lover. A wonderful comeback for him came in the form of the disco-era Dracula spoof “Love at First Bite” (1979), which he executive-produced. Nominated for a Golden Globe as the campy neck-biter displaced and having to fend off the harsh realities of New York living, he continued on the parody road successfully with “Zorro, the Gay Blade” (1981) in the very best Mel Brooks tradition.

This renewed popularity led to a one-year stint on "Dynasty" (1981) during the 1985-1986 season and a string of fun, self-mocking commercials, particularly his Ritz Cracker appearance that often spoofed his overly tanned appearance. In 1989 he started a line of skin-care products and a chain of tanning salons. On the tube he can still pull off a good time, whether playing flamboyant publisher William Randolph Hearst in “Rough Riders” (1997) (TV), playing the best-looking Santa Claus ever in “A Very Cool Christmas” (2004) (TV), hosting beauty pageants or making breezy gag appearances.

He has broken through the "reality show" ranks by hosting "The Family" (2003) and participating in the second season of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" (2005/I), where his charm and usual impeccable tailoring scored higher than his limberness.

Hamilton was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2009, on his 70th birthday.

LA CAGE AUX FOLLES recently made Tony Awards history as the first show to ever win the Tony Award three times for best production. The classic musical comedy by Jerry Herman and Harvey Fierstein originally won six Tony Awards in 1984, including Best Musical. A Broadway revival won two 2005 Tony Awards including the Best Revival of a Musical prize. The new, freshly reconceived LA CAGE won three 2010 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical and Best Director of a Musical (Terry Johnson).

The production is also the winner of three Drama Desk Awards, including Outstanding Revival of a Musical, four Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Outstanding Revival of a Musical and Outstanding Director of a Musical (Terry Johnson) and the Drama League Award for Distinguished Revival of a Musical.

LA CAGE AUX FOLLES features music and lyrics by Jerry Herman and book by Harvey Fierstein, based on the play by Jean Poiret.

The 1st National Tour of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES will be at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, Florida from February 14 thru 19, 2012 and at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from June 12 thru 24, 2012.
