Cirque du Soleil’s ALEGRIA heads to South Florida!

Cirque du Soleil has always been a well-known topic of conversation; unfortunately the only way to catch one of these remarkable shows was to travel across seas or to head to Las Vegas. Luckily that’s all about to change. Cirque du Soleil has announced its tour of ALEGRIA to over 39 cities in the United States.

ALEGRIA is one of 21 Shows being produced around the world, and the only one to tour the United States in 2011.

ALEGRIA premiered in 1994 in Montreal, Canada and has since won the hearts of over 10 million people. This is the first time in 15 years that ALEGRIA has left the big top to tour the United States and Canada.

Cirque du Soleil creator and founder Guy Laliberte has teamed up with acclaimed director Franco Dragone and Director of Creation Gilles Ste-Croix; all of whom have worked together on Cirque du Soleil’s O, MYSTERE, QUIDAM and LA NOUBA.

ALEGRIA, a Spanish word meaning elation, joy and jubilation… features talented acrobats, dancers, musicians and aerialists. ALEGRIA features over 55 performers and musicians from over 15 different countries and is a fast paced 2 1/2-hour long show that will leave you speechless. You will experience contortionists, manipulation, The Flying Man, trapeze artists and much more including over 400 custom-made costume pieces.

Cirque du Soleil’s ALEGRIA will be at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise/Fort Lauderdale, Florida from July 20 thru 31, 2011.
